Background: To explore the relationship of peroxiredoxin6 (PRDX6) tag-single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) with susceptibility to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in the Chinese Han population.
Methods: A total of 502 patients with COPD and 481 healthy controls from nine hospitals in China were enrolled in this study. The PRDX6 tag-SNPs were identified by linkage disequilibrium (LD) analysis in 30 healthy controls.
Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is one of the most prevalent transparent thermoplastics. It is commonly utilized due to its low cost and high durability. With the massive accumulation of waste PET, however, serious environmental pollution has become a global problem.

In present study, we aimed to study the relationship between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of transient receptor potential vanilloid-1 (TRPV1) and the risk of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or COPD combined with pulmonary hypertension (PH) in Chinese Han population.

Myocardial fibrosis (MFs) is a crucial pathological process that results in cardiac failure in the development of multiple cardiovascular diseases. Puerarin could reportedly be used to treat a variety of cardiovascular diseases. However, the exact mechanism of puerarin on MFs was not clear enough.

Multiple lines of evidence, including an epidemic-type aftershock sequence model, relocated hypocenters, the mechanisms of 13 large events (M > 3.5), and numerically calculated Coulomb failure stress results, convincingly suggest that a series of earthquakes with moment magnitudes up to M 4.

Because interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) plays an important role in inflammation, this work assessed IFN-γ single nucleotide polymorphism (SNPs) that may be associated with sepsis.
Methods: A total of 196 patients with pneumonia-induced sepsis and 213 age- and sex-matched healthy volunteers participated in our study from July 2012 to July 2013 in Guangzhou, China.

Objective: To investigate the distribution and drug sensitivity of pathogenic bacteria isolated from patients with nosocomial infection in intensive care unit.
Methods: The clinical data were collected from 229 hospitalized patients with nosocomial infection in intensive care unit from 2009 to 2011.
Results: Gram-negative bacteria were the main pathogens (68.

Objective: the purpose was to describe the outcomes and characteristics of the obstetric patients with concurrent eclampsia and hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelets syndrome (HELLP) syndrome.
Methods: we retrospectively collected the materials between December 1999 and December 2008 in Obstetric Critical Care Center of Guangzhou. There were 76 patients in rolled then they were divided into two groups according to with or without HELLP syndrome.

Objective: To study the reliability of establishing a neonatal piglet model of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP).
Methods: Fourteen neonatal piglets were randomly assigned into Experiment group (n=9) and Control group (n=5). MODS model was established in the piglets from the Experiment group by CLP.
