With the growth of the population and the development of industry and agriculture, water resources are experiencing contamination by numerous pollutants, posing a threat to the aquatic environment and human health. Zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF) membranes, as a solution for water pollutant treatment, not only have the advantages of high efficiency adsorption, good selectivity, stability, and easy recyclability, but they also can be modified or derivatized through surface functionalization, compositing, or structural tuning, which can further endow the membranes with other functions, such as catalysis and degradation. In order to improve the performance of ZIF membranes, it is crucial to select suitable preparation methods to optimize the microstructure of the membranes and to improve the separation performance and stability of the membranes.

Agriculture is crucial for global food supply and dominates the Earth's land surface. It is unknown, however, how slow but relentless changes in climate mean state, versus random extreme conditions arising from changing variability, will affect agroecosystems' carbon fluxes, energy fluxes, and crop production. Nano-pesticides have attracted much attention in the field of agriculture, due to existing problems such as decreased bactericidal effect and poor adhesion. An environmentally friendly metal porphyrin (Cu-TCPP)-based nanocarrier pesticide release of diniconazole (DIN) was designed to enhance bactericidal efficacy and modulate its bioavailability in a multidimensional manner by constructing a metal phenolic network (MPN) encapsulation. The introduction of the MPN prevents the DIN from prematurely escaping from the Cu-TCPP@DIN@MPN in the environment and gives it strong interfacial adhesion to resist rain washing.

Gold-platinum (Au@Pt) nanozymes with high catalytic activity and stability were designed to improve the stability of the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and a two-mode signal output was used to enhance the sensitivity and confidence of the assay. This study reports the two-mode signal output based on Au@Pt nanozyme to catalyzed 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) reaction. Oxidized 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (ox-TMB) has wide absorption spectrum, providing excellent optical density capabilities and fluorescence quenching.

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is known as the most common complication of diabetes, resulting from a complex inheritance-environment interaction without effective clinical treatments. Herein, we revealed the protective effects and mechanisms of Zn(II)-curcumin, a curcumin derivative, against streptozotocin-induced DN in rats in the presence or absence of cadmium exposure. The existence of fractionally quantized topological corner charge serves as a key indicator for two-dimensional (2D) second-order topological insulators (SOTIs), yet it has not been experimentally observed in realistic materials. Here, based on effective model analysis and symmetry arguments, we propose a strategy for achieving SOTI phases with in-gap corner states in 2D systems with antiferromagnetic (AFM) order. We discover that the band topology originates from the interplay between intrinsic spin-orbital coupling and interlayer AFM exchange interactions.

Climate change can alter wetland extent and function, but such impacts are perplexing. Here, changes in wetland characteristics over North America from 25° to 53° North are projected under two climate scenarios using a state-of-the-science Earth system model. At the continental scale, annual wetland area decreases by ~10% (6%-14%) under the high emission scenario, but spatiotemporal changes vary, reaching up to ±50%.

Sulforaphane (SFN) is a natural isothiocyanate compound widely abundant in cruciferous vegetables with multiple bioactive functions. However, traditional analytical methods for the extraction and determination of SFN are cumbersome, time-consuming, and low sensitivity with large amounts of organic solvents.
