Background: Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are heterogeneous membranous structures released by various cell types, including large vesicles, microvesicles (MVs), and exosomes. These vesicles play crucial roles in intercellular communication within interstitial fluids and are involved in numerous physiological and pathological processes.

Aim Of Review: This review aims to examine the regulatory roles of EVs in pregnancy complications, focusing on their involvement in gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), preeclampsia (PE), and preterm birth (PTB).

Low shear stress and pyroptosis both play an important role in the onset and development of atherosclerosis (AS). MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a kind of short (18-22) nucleotide sequences that can bind to the 3'-untranslated region (3'-UTR) of messenger RNA, thereby regulating programmed cell death including pyroptosis. However, the function of miRNAs in cells subjected to shear stress conditions is unknown.

Background: This study aimed to determine the relationship between hematocrit (HCT) levels and cardiovascular risk factors in a community-based population of middle-aged adults.

Methods: From April 2011 to February 2012, a total of 1,884 middle-aged adults were selected from a community-based population in China. Blood and urine samples were collected for routine blood and urine tests, and measurement of plasma glucose and lipid levels.

Background And Objective: Human achaete-scute homolog 1 (hASH1) gene plays a critical role in development of the central nervous system, automatic nervous system, adrenal medullary chromaffin cells, thyroid C cells and pulmonary neuroendocrine cells. The aim of this study is to determine hASH1 gene expression in the normal lung tissue and various types of lung tumors, to analyze whether its expression correlated with pulmonary neuroendocrine markers, and to explore the possibility of hASH1 as clinical pathological markers in the neuroendocrine tumors compared with previous neuroendocrine tumor markers.

Methods: hASH1, Chromogranin A, Synaptophysin and CD56 expression were examined in lung tumor specimens (lung inflammatory pseudotumor, squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinomas, large cell carcinoma, typical carcinoids, atypical carcinoids, large cell neuroendocrine carcinomas and small cell lung carcinoma and corresponding normal lung specimens) using immunohistochemistry (S-P method).
