γ-Stearolactone ring-opening by zeolites for the production of branched saturated fatty acids.

C branched saturated fatty acids (BSFA) are used as ingredients in cosmetics and lubricants and are produced the hydrogenation of C branched unsaturated fatty acids (BUFA). Industrial-grade C BUFA contain the odorous by-product γ-stearolactone (GSL), which must be removed by acid-catalysed ring-opening of GSL into oleic acid. Zeolites such as Y and beta can facilitate the ring-opening, but due to the dimensions of GSL the activity is expected to be limited by diffusion into the micropores.

Associations of Clinical Characteristics With Sudden Cardiac Arrest in People With Type 2 Diabetes With and Without Cardiovascular Disease: A Longitudinal Case-Control Study Using Routine Primary Care Data.

Objective: To assess longitudinal associations with sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) of clinical characteristics recorded in primary care in people with type 2 diabetes (T2D), both with and without cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Research Design And Methods: We performed a case-control study, with SCA case subjects with T2D from the Amsterdam Resuscitation Studies (ARREST) registry of out-of-hospital resuscitation attempts in the Dutch Noord-Holland region (2010-2020) and up to five matched (age, sex, T2D, general practitioner [GP] practice) non-SCA control subjects. We collected relevant clinical measurements, medication use, and medical history from GPs' electronic health care records.

Measuring Adaptive Behavior in Patients with Mendelian Neurodevelopmental Disorders. Comparison of ABAS-3 and Dutch Vineland Scales.

Objective: Several instruments are available for measuring (aspects of) adaptive functioning, but knowledge is lacking about which is best to use to monitor patients with etiologically homogeneous neurodevelopmental disorders. In this study we compare the use of the Vineland-Z and ABAS-3 adaptive behavior scales in such a specific group.

Method: Of patients with a molecularly confirmed diagnosis of Kleefstra syndrome, 34 were assessed with both the Vineland-Z and ABAS-3 of which 12 (35,3%) males and 22 (64,7%) females.

This narrative review summarizes key concepts in dairy nutrition for supporting human health throughout the life course. Milk and dairy products have been a staple component of our diet for thousands of years and provide a wide range of important nutrients that are otherwise difficult to obtain from dairy-free diets. In this review, we provide a broad perspective on the nutritional roles of iodine and dairy protein in supporting human health during pregnancy and early life, childhood and adolescence, mid- and later-life.

Aim: This study aimed to determine whether patients suffering from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) with a pre-OHCA diagnosis of heart disease have higher survival chances than patients without such a diagnosis and to explore possible underlying mechanisms.

Objective: Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) occurrence has been shown to exhibit a circadian rhythm, following the circadian rhythm of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) occurrence. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is associated with changes in circadian rhythm. We aimed to compare the temporal variation of OHCA occurrence over the day and week between OHCA patients with DM and those without.

The effect of the localisation of an underlying ST-elevation myocardial infarction on the VF-waveform: A multi-centre cardiac arrest study.

Introduction: In cardiac arrest, ventricular fibrillation (VF) waveform characteristics such as amplitude spectrum area (AMSA) are studied to identify an underlying myocardial infarction (MI). Observational studies report lower AMSA-values in patients with than without underlying MI. Moreover, experimental studies with 12-lead ECG-recordings show lowest VF-characteristics when the MI-localisation matches the ECG-recording direction.

Sex differences in the association of comorbidity with shockable initial rhythm in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

Background: Lower survival chances after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) in women is associated with lower odds of a shockable initial rhythm (SIR). We hypothesized that sex differences in the prevalence of SIR are due to sex differences in comorbidities. We aimed to establish to what extent sex differences in the cumulative comorbidity burden, measured using the Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI), or in individual comorbidities, account for the lower proportion of SIR in women.

Discovery of predictors of sudden cardiac arrest in diabetes: rationale and outline of the RESCUED (REcognition of Sudden Cardiac arrest vUlnErability in Diabetes) project.

Introduction: Early recognition of individuals with increased risk of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) remains challenging. SCA research so far has used data from cardiologist care, but missed most SCA victims, since they were only in general practitioner (GP) care prior to SCA. Studying individuals with type 2 diabetes (T2D) in GP care may help solve this problem, as they have increased risk for SCA, and rich clinical datasets, since they regularly visit their GP for check-up measurements.

Behavior and cognitive functioning in Witteveen-Kolk syndrome.

Witteveen-Kolk syndrome (WITKOS) is a rare neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by developmental delay/intellectual disability, facial dysmorphisms, and short stature. The syndrome is caused by loss of function of switch-insensitive 3 transcription regulator family member A (SIN3A). Regarding behavioral functioning, Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), obsessive-compulsive behaviors, as well as Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder symptoms (ADHD) have been suggested.

Cell Cycle Genes Are Potential Diagnostic and Prognostic Biomarkers in Hepatocellular Carcinoma.

Background: The cell cycle pathway genes are comprised of 113 members which are critical to the maintenance of cell cycle and survival of tumor cells. This study was performed to investigate the diagnostic and prognostic values of cell cycle gene expression in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients.

Methods: Clinical features and cell cycle pathway gene expression data were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus and The Cancer Genome Atlas databases.
