Background: This study was designed to screen potential biomarkers in plasma cell-free DNA (cfDNA) for predicting the clinical outcome of immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI)-based therapy in advanced hepatobiliary cancers.
Methods: Three cohorts including 187 patients with hepatobiliary cancers were recruited from clinical trials at the Peking Union Medical College Hospital. Forty-three patients received combination therapy of programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) inhibitor with lenvatinib (ICI cohort 1), 108 patients received ICI-based therapy (ICI cohort 2) and 36 patients received non-ICI therapy (non-ICI cohort).
Background: PD-1/L1 inhibitor-based immunotherapy is currently under investigation in biliary tract cancer (BTC). Apatinib combined with camrelizumab has achieved promising results in various tumor types. The aim of this study was to assess the safety and efficacy of apatinib plus camrelizumab for advanced biliary tract cancer patients who have received previously treatments.

Studies have shown that umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (uMSCs) could alleviate PF; however, the underlying mechanism remains to be elucidated.
Methods: The therapeutic effects of uMSC-derived extracellular vesicles (uMSC-EVs) on PF were evaluated using bleomycin (BLM)-induced mouse models.
Hydroxyurea (HU) is an FDA-approved drug used to treat a variety of diseases, especially malignancies, but is harmful to fertility. We used porcine oocytes as an experimental model to study the effect of HU during oocyte maturation. Exposure of cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) to 20 µM (P<0.

OX40 agonist-based combinations are emerging as promising candidates for novel cancer immunotherapy. Clinical trials have shown that OX40 agonist antibodies could lead to better results in cancer patients.

This study analyzed 803 patients with BTC:164 with gallbladder cancer, 475 with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) and 164 with extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. We determined genomic alterations, mutational signatures related to etiology and histopathology and prognostic biomarkers.

This fictional case describes a managerial situation of implementing cone-beam computed tomography faced by a solo medical physicist in a rural community hospital. The intended use of the case study, in either a facilitated learning session or self-study, is to inspire the readers to discuss the situation, analyze the institutional and personal factors, apply relevant leadership skills, and propose action plans. This case study falls under the scope of, and is supported by, the Medical Physics Leadership Academy (MPLA).

Apatinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor targeting VEGFR-2, which exhibited broad-spectrum antitumor activities in previous studies. We aim to evaluate the efficacy and safety of apatinib as non-first-line treatment in patients with advanced cholangiocarcinoma.

Overexpression of CD47 enables cancer cells to escape immune surveillance and destruction by phagocytes both in solid tumours and leukaemia. The usefulness of anti-CD47 antibody has been demonstrated in multiple immunotherapies associated with macrophages.

To describe the clinical and computed tomography (CT) characteristics in patients with COVID-19-induced pneumonia, the current study retrospectively analyzed the data of 152 patients with pneumonia between December 30, 2019 and February 29, 2020. Pharyngeal swabs for nucleic acid detection of respiratory secretions were used for all patients.

There is increasing evidence that microRNAs (miRNAs) play an important role in the development of neuropathic pain.In this study, the TaqMan Low Density Array (TLDA) was used to analyze the serum miRNA levels of 28 TN patients, and 31 healthy people without any neuropathic pain were used as controls.

Treatment with L-theanine significantly decreased the disease activity index and ameliorated the inflammation-associated pathological damage in colon length, as well as the histopathological features of DSS-induced colitis. L-Theanine administration also inhibited DSS-induced changes in the colonic tissue that included myeloperoxidase by 4.

Materials And Methods: Appropriately selected targets were not proximal to great vessels, did not have sensitive soft tissue including organs-at-risk (OARs) within the planning target volume (PTV), and did not have concave tumors containing excessive normal brain tissue. Four of fourteen candidate meningioma patients and six of six candidate patients with brain tumor cavities were considered for this treatment planning comparison study.
Tumour mutation burden (TMB) and the immune microenvironment (IME) are reportedly associated with immunotherapy responses, but this relationship remains unclear in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We classified HCC patients in the liver hepatocellular carcinoma cohort from The Cancer Genome Atlas into low- and high-TMB groups and evaluated differences in immune infiltrates. Additionally, differentially expressed genes in the low- and high-TMB groups were identified, and functional analyses were conducted.
