Background: Post-traumatic Fusarium infection is rare. Arterial occlusive disease, a common vascular disorder in the elderly, often leads to ischemic necrosis of the lower extremities, which in turn increases the likelihood of secondary infections. Those secondary infections can be caused by bacteria, virus, or fungi.

Background: Glycated albumin (GA) has been demonstrated to be associated with adverse outcomes in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). However, as a specific subgroup of ACS, a significant proportion of patients with ACS without standard modifiable cardiovascular risk factors (SMuRFs) are currently being identified. The prognostic value of serum GA for adverse events in such patients remains unexplored.

In recent years, a growing body of research has highlighted the significant influence of the microbiota on tumor immunity within the tumor microenvironment (TME). While much attention has been given to bacteria, emerging evidence suggests that fungi also play crucial roles in tumor development. The present review aimed to consolidate the latest findings on the mechanisms governing the interactions between fungi and the immune system or TME.

Rice bran oil is recommended by the World Health Organization as one of the three major healthy edible oils (along with corn and sesame oils), owing to its unique fatty acid composition and functional components. This study screened, organized, and analyzed a large number of studies retrieved through keyword searches, and investigated the nutritional value and safety of rice bran oil. It reviews the stability of raw rice bran materials and the extraction and refining process of rice bran oil and discusses food applications and sub-health regulations.

Article Synopsis
  • Trehalases (TREs) are key enzymes in managing trehalose and chitin metabolism in insects, making them important targets for pest control.
  • Three thioxothiazolidin compounds (1G, 2G, and 11G) were tested on larvae of a specific insect family (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae) to evaluate their impact on TRE activity and larval development.
  • The study found that while all three compounds inhibited TRE activity and delayed growth, compounds 1G and 2G resulted in lower survival rates and more developmental abnormalities compared to 11G, indicating their potential as eco-friendly insecticides.

  • The study investigated the effects of Zishen Yutai Pill (ZYP) on live birth rates in infertile women undergoing frozen embryo transfer (FET) cycles after showing benefits in fresh cycles.
  • Conducted at 11 centers in China, 880 eligible participants were randomly assigned to receive either ZYP or a placebo, focusing on various pregnancy outcomes.
  • While the overall increase in live birth rates with ZYP compared to placebo was not statistically significant, specific subgroups, including women with a history of miscarriage and those of advanced maternal age, showed promising results.

Background: The incidence of recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA) in the clinic shows an increasing trend year by year, and the coagulation status of this group of patients is mostly relatively abnormal. Currently, commonly used drugs in clinical practice include Aspirin (ASA) and low molecular weight heparin (LMWH), but their optimal treatment remains controversial. We aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy and adverse effects of LMWH combined with ASA in the treatment of RSA.

This study aims to illustrate epidemiology of comorbid CVD in the real-world clinical setting of patients with psoriasis in China. We used data of adult patients with psoriasis who were registered in the register of China National Clinical Center for Skin and Immune Diseases between August 2020 and September 2021. Psoriasis was clinically diagnosed following the national guidelines.

Acute lung injury (ALI) arises from an excessive inflammatory response, usually progressing to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) if not promptly addressed. There is currently a limited array of effective treatments available for ALI. In this study, we developed disulfide bond-bridged prodrug self-assembled nanoparticles (referred to as DSSS NPs).

NETosis, a regulated form of neutrophil death, is crucial for host defense against pathogens. However, the release of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) during NETosis can have detrimental effects on surrounding tissues and contribute to the pro-inflammatory response, in addition to their role in controlling microbes. Although it is well-established that the IL-23-Th17 axis plays a key role in the pathogenesis of psoriasis, emerging evidence suggests that psoriasis, as an autoinflammatory disease, is also associated with NETosis.

Background: The atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) and hyperuricemia (HUA) have been shown to be closely associated with morbidity and mortality of coronary artery disease. However, studies targeting predictive value of AIP and HUA for chronic total occlusion (CTO) lesions are still lacking.

Methods: In total, 5,238 patients meeting the eligibility criteria were recruited in this analysis.

Onychomycosis in infants is a rare fungal infection. The condition is frequently linked to congenital or secondary immunodeficiency, as well as exposure to contaminated environments. In this report, we present a case of infant onychomycosis, likely infected during birth delivery from the mother with vaginal candidiasis.

Brain metastasis (BM) is one of the main causes of death in patients with non-small cell lung carcinoma. The specific pathological processes of BM, which are inextricably linked to the brain tumor microenvironment, such as the abundance of astrocytes, lead to limited treatment options and poor prognosis. Reactive astrocytes are acquired in the BM; however, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear.

Background: A significant percentage of patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) without standard modifiable cardiovascular risk factors (SMuRFs) are being identified. Nonetheless, the prognostic influence of the TyG index on adverse events in this type of patient remains unexplored. The aim of this study was to assess the prognostic value of the TyG index among ACS patients without SMuRFs for predicting adverse outcomes.

Background: Sodium-Glucose Cotransporter-2 Inhibitor (SGLT2i) is a novel oral drug for treating type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) with demonstrated cardiovascular benefits. Previous studies in apolipoprotein E knockout mice have shown that SGLT2i is associated with attenuated progression of atherosclerosis. However, whether this effect extends to T2DM patients with coronary atherosclerosis in real-world settings remains unknown.

Tinea capitis, primarily caused by dermatophytes such as and species, is a superficial fungal infection affecting the scalp and hair, commonly observed in prepubertal children but rare in adults. Here we report a unique case of an adult female with tinea capitis presenting as diffused alopecia and erythema inflammation on the scalp's apex, mimicking seborrheic dermatitis. Examination of the hair and scalp using fluorescence microscopy and fungal culture identified the presence of hyphae from and .

As chronic inflammatory conditions driven by immune dysregulation are influenced by genetics and environment factors, psoriasis and atopic dermatitis (AD) have traditionally been considered to be distinct diseases characterized by different T cell responses. Psoriasis, associated with type 17 helper T (Th17)-mediated inflammation, presents as well-defined scaly plaques with minimal pruritus. AD, primarily linked to Th2-mediated inflammation, presents with poorly defined erythema, dry skin, and intense itching.
