The tris(pyridin-4-yl)amine ligand was found to exhibit a radical-actuated coloration phenomenon, and a novel copper-based color-changeable metal-organic framework (MOF) was synthesized via this photoactive ligand. After light irradiation, the photogenerated stable radicals in this framework induced increasing amplitude of magnetization (32%) at room temperature, being the largest enhancement among radical-based photochromic systems.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined how various traditional Chinese medicine compositions and extraction methods impact mice’s ability to tolerate low oxygen conditions.
  • Male BALB/c mice were divided into 6 groups, with different treatments including compounds like danshen and Rhodiola Rosea, and were tested after 10 days of administration.
  • Results showed that certain treatments, particularly those with compound danshen and Astragalus, significantly improved survival times in hypoxia tests and boosted antioxidant enzyme activity compared to the control group.

Esophageal cancer is one of the most common tumor in the world, and the morbidity rate is as high as 100/100 000 in some parts of China. Therefore, it is important and urgent to explore the pathogenesis of esophageal cancer and find new therapeutic targets for esophageal cancer. In this study, we found that a novel tumor suppressor SPINK5 is significantly reduced in the development of esophageal cancer, and is closely related to the pathological differentiation and lymph node metastasis of esophageal cancer via bioinformatics analysis and esophageal cancer tissue array.

Article Synopsis
  • A study evaluated the safety and effectiveness of robotic total thyroidectomy with central neck dissection (CND) through a bilateral axillo-breast approach (BABA) in young women with papillary thyroid microcarcinoma, comparing it to conventional open surgery.
  • * The robotic procedure had a longer average operative time but resulted in significantly better cosmetic outcomes and less postoperative pain, as indicated by visual analog scale (VAS) and numerical scoring system (NSS) results.
  • * Overall, while the robotic technique showed advantages in comfort and appearance, it didn't show significant differences in intraoperative blood loss, hospital stay, or complications when compared to traditional methods.

To implement calibration transfer between Raman spectrometers, an improved piecewise direct standardization (PDS) is proposed in the present paper. Standard normal variate (SNV) is firstly introduced to reduce the influence of spectral background and intensity corresponding to the master spectrometer and the slave spectrometer; then PDS algorithm is used to eliminate the differences between Raman spectra for a specific sample. Moreover, a new quantitative criterion, called transfer error rate, is proposed to evaluate the performance of calibration model transfer.
