Laser direct lithography allows for the maskless production and alignment of nanocrystals. However, laser-induced crystal growth requires a complex process of nucleation followed by growth that takes a long time, resulting in low efficiency. Here, we used a laser explosion to pre-grow silicon seed crystals in a silicon precursor solution, simplified crystal growth and increased the lithography efficiency.

The in-situ generation of perovskite nanocrystals within organic media using a femtosecond laser can greatly simplify the sample preparation process and save pulse energy. In this work, three perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs), CsPbCl, CsPbBrCl, and CsCdxPbBr, were generated in situ within organic media using a femtosecond laser. These three perovskite nanocrystals emitted pure blue or blue-green fluorescence under ultraviolet (UV) irradiation.

  • * Animal experiments indicated that low doses of PCP can lead to pancreatic β-cell dysfunction and disrupt glycemic control, while also revealing non-linear dose-response relationships.
  • * Additional analysis showed that PCP exposure alters gut microbiota and serum metabolites, suggesting that these changes might contribute to increased diabetes risk by affecting biosynthesis of amino acids and fatty acids in rats, paving the way for further research on PCP's impact on human diabetes.

Background: Sanda, a martial art that primarily involves punching, kicking, and throwing techniques, requires athletes to maintain high levels of concentration during combat. Sanda principally involves striking the opponent to secure victory, with trauma frequently occurring to the head; however, it remains unclear whether prolonged training enhances or impairs the athletes' attentional capacities. This study aimed to investigate the impact of Sanda training on athletes' attention by employing attention network tests.

Objective: To investigate the effects of inhibiting the NOD-like receptor family pyrin domain-containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome on neuronal damage and chronic pro-inflammatory responses during epileptogenesis in a mouse model of pilocarpine-induced status epilepticus (SE).

Methods: Mice were randomly allocated into three groups: control, SE, and SE + MCC 950. The expression patterns of M1 and M2 microglial biomarkers in the hippocampus were quantified using Western blotting, quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and immunofluorescence staining.

Cisplatin resistance is a major challenge for systemic therapy against advanced bladder cancer (BC). Little information is available on the regulation of cisplatin resistance and the underlying mechanisms require elucidation. Here, we detected that downregulation of the tumor suppressor, PPP2R2B (a serine/threonine protein phosphatase 2 A regulatory subunit), in BC promoted cell proliferation and migration.

We propose and demonstrate a high-speed directly modulated laser based on a hybrid deformed-square-FP coupled cavity (DFC), aiming for a compact-size low-cost light source in next-generation optical communication systems. The deformed square microcavity is directly connected to the FP cavity and utilized as a wavelength-sensitive reflector with a comb-like and narrow-peak reflection spectrum for selecting the lasing mode, which can greatly improve the single-mode yield of the laser and the quality (Q) factor of the coupled mode. By optimizing the device design and operating condition, the modulation bandwidth of the DFC laser can be enhanced due to the intracavity-mode photon-photon resonance effect.

  • Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) is a common health issue causing leg or back pain, prompting a clinical trial to assess the effectiveness of Yaobitong capsules (YBT) compared to Jingyaokang capsules (JYK).
  • The trial involved 479 patients who received either YBT or JYK, with outcomes measured using the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) and visual analogue scale (VAS) over 30 days.
  • Results indicated that YBT significantly improved ODI and VAS scores compared to JYK at various time points, with both treatments having similar safety profiles, suggesting YBT as a more effective option for LDH.

  • Research on cathode materials for water-based zinc ion batteries (ZIBs) is critical due to current electrodes' limitations in achieving high discharge capacity and structural stability during electrochemical processes.
  • This study introduces hollow bimetallic heterojunction nanospheres created through a simple hydrothermal method, which demonstrate impressive electrochemical properties, including high-rate performance and stable cycling.
  • The findings suggest that these nanospheres support material structure and enhance Zn migration, thanks to abundant active sites and improved electron mobility, potentially expanding the application range of ZIBs through various modification strategies.

Objectives: Prostate cancer holds the second-highest incidence rate among all male malignancies, with a noticeable scarcity of effective treatment approaches. The REST Corepressor 1 (RCOR1) protein exhibits elevated expression across various tumors, acting as an oncogene. Nevertheless, its functions and mechanisms in prostate cancer have yet to be documented.

Purpose: To evaluate the influence of visceral fat area (VFA), subcutaneous fat area (SFA), the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and total inflammation-based systemic index (AISI) on the postoperative prognosis of non-small cell lung cancers (NSCLC) patients.

Methods: 266 NSCLC patients received surgery from two academic medical centers were included. To assess the effect of abdominal fat measured by computed tomography (CT) imaging and inflammatory indicators on patients' overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS), Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and Cox proportional hazards models were used.

The study focuses on the control of nonlinear dynamic systems in the presence of parameter uncertainties, unmodeled dynamics, and external disturbances. The lumped perturbation is assumed to be bounded within a polynomial in the system state with the polynomial parameters and degrees unknown a priori such that it accommodates a quite wider range dynamic systems. Based on the studies in recent super-twisting algorithm designs and the idea from adaptive sliding mode control for nonlinear systems with uncertainties, we propose a novel adaptive super-twisting algorithm with exponential reaching law, or exponential super-twisting algorithm (ESTA), for the high-stability and acceptable accuracy control of the aimed nonlinear dynamics.

Heterostructured materials have great potential as cathodes for zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) because of their fast Zn transport channels. Herein, hollow MoS@C@CuS heterostructures are innovatively constructed using a template-engaged method. The carbon layer improves the electrical conductivity, provides a high growth area, and effectively restricts volume expansion during the recycling process.
