Introduction/objective: Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias (AD/ADRD) present significant caregiving challenges, with increasing burdens on informal caregivers. This study examines the potential of AI-driven Large Language Models (LLMs) in developing digital caregiving strategies for AD/ADRD. The objectives include analyzing existing caregiving education materials (CEMs) and mobile application descriptions (MADs) and aligning key caregiving tasks with digital functions across different stages of disease progression.

Context: Cognitive performance has been shown to be associated with musculoskeletal injury risk. Cognitive assessments are often administered in controlled environments despite sport settings challenging cognition in uncontrolled, less predictable environments. Cognitive assessments should be representative of sport demands; thus, integrating motor with cognitive assessments may be more clinically relevant.

Methods: In total, 112 patients with CD who were initially diagnosed and treated at our institution from January 2009 to August 2020 were included.

Bioprosthesis in the Mitral Position: Bovine Pericardial versus Porcine Xenograft.

Background: While the use of bioprosthetic valves for mitral valve replacement (MVR) is increasing, very few studies have compared bovine pericardial and porcine valves in the mitral position to help guide bioprosthetic selection.

Methods: In the present study, patients who underwent MVR using bovine pericardial valves were compared with those who underwent MVR with porcine bioprostheses between January 1996 and July 2018. Those with prior MVR, infective endocarditis, congenital mitral valve disease, or ischemic mitral regurgitation were excluded.

Post-Traumatic Headache is Associated with Worse Anxiety and Mood Symptoms in Adolescent Mild Traumatic Brain Injury.

This study examined the relationships between post-traumatic headache (PTH) and mental health symptoms after concussions to inform adolescent concussion management. Headache is the most common complaint following adolescent concussion. In this sample of 123 adolescents with concussion, there was a 5-fold increase in odds of clinically elevated anxiety, as well as increased mental health symptoms (anxiety, depression, anger, and disruptive behaviours), among adolescents with PTH relative to those without PTH.

Objectives: Poorer neurocognitive performance may increase lower extremity injury risk due to alterations in biomechanics. However, it is unclear if poorer neurocognitive function may be associated with altered dynamic postural stability. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between neurocognitive performance and dynamic postural stability in healthy collegiate athletes.

Shear-wave elastography in thyroid ultrasound: Can be a predictor of extrathyroidal extension and cervical lymph node metastasis in papillary thyroid carcinoma?

This study aimed to investigate whether extrathyroidal extension (ETE) and cervical lymph node metastasis (LNM) can be predicted using elasticity parameters of shear-wave elastography (SWE) combined with B-mode ultrasound (US) of papillary thyroid carcinomas (PTCs).We retrospectively reviewed 111 patients who underwent preoperative SWE evaluation among PTC patients from July 1, 2016 to June 20, 2018. Patients were divided into 2 groups based on the presence or absence of ETE based on pathology reports.

Virtual reality gaming as a neurorehabilitation tool for brain injuries in adults: A systematic review.

Objective: Evidence of the effectiveness of virtual reality (VR) in motor and cognitive rehabilitation for traumatic brain injury (TBI) continues to be mixed. Therefore, we conducted a systematic literature review in accordance with PRISMA guidelines to strategically evaluate the strength of evidence supporting the use of VR as a rehabilitation tool for motor function and cognition in patients with TBI.

Familial Danish dementia (FDD) is a rare, autosomal dominant neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive hearing loss, cataracts, progressive ataxia, and dementia. We present a case of young-onset dementia in a 47-year-old patient with Danish heritage who was subsequently diagnosed FDD through genetic testing.
