Purpose: The purpose of the current study is to analyze the difference of short-term and oncologic outcomes between younger and older colorectal cancer (CRC) patients who underwent primary CRC surgery using a propensity score matching (PSM) analysis.
Methods: We retrospectively collected CRC patients who underwent primary surgery in a single clinical database from Jan 2011 to Jan 2020. The short-term and oncologic outcomes were compared between younger aged group and older aged group.
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a most common neurodegenerative disease. Sodium Tanshinone IIA Sulfonate (STS) has been reported to ameliorate AD pathology. However, the underlying mechanism is still unclear.

Methods: Patients who underwent primary CRC surgery were retrospectively collected from Jan 2011 to Jan 2020 in a single clinical center. The short-term outcomes and prognosis were compared between T2DM group and non-T2DM group using propensity score matching (PSM) analysis.
Toluene methylation using methanol offers a high potential molecular engineering process to produce -xylene (PX) based on shape-selective catalysts. To further improve the process economics, a novel short process was proposed by reducing the high-energy consumption separation of xylene isomers in existing processes since the PX selectivity of the xylene isomers can be enhanced more than the industrial product quality of 99.7%.

Patients: Advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) harbouring epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations.
Methods: Partitioned survival analysis was undertaken to examine the cost-effectiveness of dacomitinib utilising individual patient data (IPD) from the pivotal randomised controlled trial (RCT) (ARCHER 1050).
The purpose of this study was to explore the effect of abdominal shape on the short-term surgical outcomes. This was a retrospective study that included 425 patients undergoing laparoscopic distal gastrectomy plus D2 lymph node dissection (LADG) from January 2013 to January 2021. The abdominal parameters, including the shortest distance of the pancreas from the anterior abdominal skin (PAAD), the lower sternum angle (LSA), the thickness of the subcutaneous fat at the navel level (SFT), the anteroposterior diameters (APD) and the left-right diameters (LRD) at the navel level, the distance from the xiphoid process to the navel (XND) and the distance from the xiphoid process to the pubis (XBD), were calculated by preoperative abdominal computed tomography (CT) imaging.

The present letter to the editor is related to the study titled "Diabetic gastroenteropathy: An underdiagnosed complication". Diabetic gastroenteropathy contributes to a decline in quality of life. In addition, gastroenteropathy is generally observed in patients with concurrent gastric cancer and diabetes mellitus before surgery, and the occurrence of the symptoms might be due not only to cancer but also to the complications of diabetes mellitus.

A previously published cost-effectiveness model comparing vaccination with PCV13 to no vaccination was localized to the included Chinese cities. A systematic literature review was undertaken to identify age-specific incidence rates for pneumococcal bacteremia, pneumococcal meningitis, pneumonia, and otitis media (AOM).

Methods: Adult patients (aged ≥ 18 years) who underwent gastrectomy for gastric cancer in a single clinical center from January 2013 to December 2017 were enrolled continuously for retrospective analysis. To minimize the selection bias between the young and old groups, the PSM was conducted in this study.
The purpose of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the impact of chronic kidney disease on short-term complications and long-term survival in patients with gastric cancer. The PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases were searched from inception to May 18, 2021. The search strategy focused on two keywords: chronic kidney disease and gastric cancer.

However, the relatively narrow light absorption range (300 to 600 nm) limited the further improvement of short-circuit current density (J) and power conversion efficiency (PCE) of PSCs. Considering the inevitable reflectance loss (~10%) at air/glass interface, we prepared the moth-eye anti-reflector by ultraviolet nanoimprint technology and achieved an average reflectance as low as 5.

The smooth mirror-like bright Al-Mn coatings were obtained only in the EMIC-AlCl-MnCl ionic liquids containing 4-cyanopyridine, while the matte Al-Mn coatings were electrodeposited from EMIC-AlCl-MnCl without additives or containing either 4-hydroxypyridine or 4-picolinic acid. The scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffraction showed that the bright Al-Mn coatings consisted of nanocrystals and had a strong (200) preferential orientation, while the particle size of matte Al-Mn coatings were within the micron range.

N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is critical for post-transcriptional modification of messenger RNA (mRNA) and long non-coding RNA (lncRNA). However, the m6A-associated lncRNAs (m6A-lncRNA) and their values in predicting clinical outcomes and immune microenvironmental status in pancreatic cancer patients remain largely unexplored.

In this study, we systematically analyzed microbiome composition, distribution of ARGs and mobile genetic elements (MGEs) in the oropharynx and gut of workers in cattle farms and surrounding villagers, cattle feces and farm air, and the relationship of microbial communities among farm air, cattle feces and farmworkers (oropharynx and gut). Exposure to the farm environment may have remodeled farmworkers' oropharynx and gut microbiota, with reduced microbial diversity (P < 0.

Purpose: To investigate the clinical value of transrectal ultrasound in judging the Gross Target Volume (GTV) of cervical cancer (CC).
Methods: A total of 196 CC patients admitted to the Department of Radiotherapy, China-Japan Union Hospital, Jilin University, from January 2016 to June 2019 were selected as the study subjects. The GTVs before and after applicator insertion were determined by transrectal ultrasound and compared with those judged by MRI.
Silver nanowires (AgNWs) have been considered as one of the most promising flexible transparent electrodes (FTEs) material for next-generation optoelectronic devices. However, the large contact resistance between AgNWs could deteriorate the conductivity of FTEs. In the present work, high-performance AgNWs FTEs were obtained by means of focused-light-scanning (FLS), which could lead to the large-area, rapid and high-quality welding between AgNWs within a short time, forming the reliable and stable AgNWs network.

Ni-rich layered oxides have become the main force of cathode materials for EV cells with high energy density owing to their satisfactory theoretical capacity, cost-effectiveness, and low toxicity. However, the high-voltage stability of Ni-rich cathode materials still has not fulfilled the demand of power batteries due to their intrinsic structural and electrochemical instability. The commonly used modification procedures are achieved via a wet process, which may lead to surface lithium-ion deficiency, phase change, and high costs during manufacturing.

In this paper, the effect of ultraviolet (UV) irradiation on the static characteristics of high voltage 4H-SiC PiN is investigated. No significant change is observed in the forward on state characteristic of 4H-SiC PiN diodes before and after ultraviolet light irradiation. However, it is found that the blocking voltage is significantly increased with UV irradiation, which is resulted from the depletion region width extension with the collection of positive charges under the increase of the surface negative charge density.
