The purpose of this study was to explore the effect of abdominal shape on the short-term surgical outcomes. This was a retrospective study that included 425 patients undergoing laparoscopic distal gastrectomy plus D2 lymph node dissection (LADG) from January 2013 to January 2021. The abdominal parameters, including the shortest distance of the pancreas from the anterior abdominal skin (PAAD), the lower sternum angle (LSA), the thickness of the subcutaneous fat at the navel level (SFT), the anteroposterior diameters (APD) and the left-right diameters (LRD) at the navel level, the distance from the xiphoid process to the navel (XND) and the distance from the xiphoid process to the pubis (XBD), were calculated by preoperative abdominal computed tomography (CT) imaging.

Letter to editor 'Gastroenteropathy in gastric cancer patients concurrent with diabetes mellitus'.

The present letter to the editor is related to the study titled "Diabetic gastroenteropathy: An underdiagnosed complication". Diabetic gastroenteropathy contributes to a decline in quality of life. In addition, gastroenteropathy is generally observed in patients with concurrent gastric cancer and diabetes mellitus before surgery, and the occurrence of the symptoms might be due not only to cancer but also to the complications of diabetes mellitus.

The Cost-Effectiveness of 13-Valent Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine in Seven Chinese Cities.

This study estimates the cost-effectiveness of vaccination with the 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV13) among infants in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Karamay, Qingdao, and Suzhou. A previously published cost-effectiveness model comparing vaccination with PCV13 to no vaccination was localized to the included Chinese cities. Mirror-like Bright Al-Mn Coatings Electrodeposition from 1-Ethyl-3 Methylimidazolium Chloride-AlCl-MnCl Ionic Liquids with Pyridine Derivatives.

The effects of three pyridine derivative additives, 4-hydroxypyridine, 4-picolinic acid, and 4-cyanopyridine, on Al-Mn coatings were investigated in 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride-AlCl-MnCl (EMIC-AlCl-MnCl) ionic liquids. The smooth mirror-like bright Al-Mn coatings were obtained only in the EMIC-AlCl-MnCl ionic liquids containing 4-cyanopyridine, while the matte Al-Mn coatings were electrodeposited from EMIC-AlCl-MnCl without additives or containing either 4-hydroxypyridine or 4-picolinic acid. The scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffraction showed that the bright Al-Mn coatings consisted of nanocrystals and had a strong (200) preferential orientation, while the particle size of matte Al-Mn coatings were within the micron range.

This review summarizes the definition and surgical methods of oncometabolic surgery according to previous studies. Then, the authors discuss the beneficial effects observed after gastrectomy in gastric cancer (GC) patients with concurrent hypertension or type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods: A total of 196 CC patients admitted to the Department of Radiotherapy, China-Japan Union Hospital, Jilin University, from January 2016 to June 2019 were selected as the study subjects. Silver nanowires (AgNWs) have been considered as one of the most promising flexible transparent electrodes (FTEs) material for next-generation optoelectronic devices. Effect of Ultraviolet Irradiation on 4H-SiC PiN Diodes Characteristics.

In this paper, the effect of ultraviolet (UV) irradiation on the static characteristics of high voltage 4H-SiC PiN is investigated. No significant change is observed in the forward on state characteristic of 4H-SiC PiN diodes before and after ultraviolet light irradiation. However, it is found that the blocking voltage is significantly increased with UV irradiation, which is resulted from the depletion region width extension with the collection of positive charges under the increase of the surface negative charge density.
