Objective: FREEDOM (Study 342; NCT03201900) assessed the long-term treatment effect of perampanel monotherapy in adolescent and adult patients (12-74 years of age) with untreated focal-onset seizures (FOS), with or without focal to bilateral tonic-clonic seizures (FBTCS).
Methods: In the Core Study, after a 4-week Pretreatment Phase, perampanel was up-titrated to 4 mg/day during a 6-week Titration Period followed by a 26-week Maintenance Period. Patients experiencing seizure(s) during the 4-mg/day Maintenance Period could have perampanel up-titrated to 8 mg/day over 4 weeks then could enter the 26-week 8-mg/day Maintenance Period.
The effect of frozen storage (-18°C for 2 months) and thawing (4°C for 16 h) on the taste-related compounds and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in chicken breast meat was studied. After freeze-thawing, inosine monophosphate levels in chicken meat decreased and inosine levels increased. Free amino acid content increased significantly, regardless of bitter, sweet, or umami amino acids.

However, these guided polariton modes exhibit a limited propagation distance owing to the substantial exciton absorption within the material. Here, we investigated the impact of hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) layers on guided exciton-polariton modes in WS multilayers.

In designing thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters, a high reverse intersystem crossing (RISC) rate with a high photoluminescence quantum yield is essential. Herein, two blue TADF molecules, 2',5'-di(9-carbazol-9-yl)-3',6'-bis(3,6-di-butyl-9-carbazol-9-yl)-[1,1':4',1″-terphenyl]-4,4″-dicarbonitrile (CzTCzPhBN) and 2',5'-bis(3,6-di-butyl-9-carbazol-9-yl)-3',6'-bis(3,6-diphenyl-9-carbazol-9-yl)-[1,1':4',1″-terphenyl]-4,4″-dicarbonitrile (PhCzTCzPhBN) with a high RISC rate, were developed through donor engineering. CzTCzPhBN and PhCzTCzPhBN showed a high RISC rate of 4.

Here, we found that Mst1/2 (Stk3/4), key regulators of the Hippo pathway, are required for the induction of mitophagy under various mitochondrial stress conditions. Knockdown of Mst1/2 or pharmacological inhibition by XMU-MP-1 treatment led to impaired mitophagy induction upon CCCP and DFP treatment.

We investigated mA profile alterations and the inhibitory effect of RNA methylation in kidney fibrosis in vitro (TGF-β-treated HK-2 cells) and in vivo (unilateral ureteral obstruction [UUO] mouse model).

Herein, a proof-of-concept design for improving in hot exciton materials is proposed elaborate regulation of singlet-triplet energy difference, leading to an additional thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) process. Two novel dendrimers, named D-TTT-H and D-TTT-Bu, were prepared and characterized, in which diphenylamine derivatives were used as a donor moiety and tri(triazolo)triazine (TTT) as an acceptor fragment.

Among the 3 breeds, WRMD1 had significantly higher IMP and AMP contents than HH3. WRMD2 exhibited higher levels of umami and sweet-taste amino acids and oleic acid composition compared to HH3 (P < 0.

The development of mitophagy-specific inducers with low toxicity and defined molecular mechanisms is essential for the clinical application of mitophagy-based therapy. The aim of this study was to investigate the potential of a novel small-molecule mitophagy inducer, ALT001, as a treatment for AD.

Language patterns, in particular, can be easily recognized. In this paper, we propose a platform that accurately analyzes the voices of stroke patients with neurogenic bladder, enabling early detection and prevention of the condition.

Background: Stromal vascular fraction (SVF) and fat grafting are emerging alternatives to implants for breast augmentation. However, the lack of controlled clinical data has led to conflicting results regarding the effectiveness of surgical treatments. This study aimed to identify the key factors affecting the outcomes of fat grafting with SVF and to recognize novel methods to improve the retention rate.

The CPE were prepared in various conditions (ethanol concentrations of 50%, 70%, and 90% with extraction periods of 3 and 6 days). The extract with potent antibacterial and antioxidant activities (90%, 6 days) was selected for addition to pork patties.

Herein, we report the guided mode resonance in an ultra-thin TMDC grating structure. Owing to the strong exciton resonances in TMDCs, a TMDC grating structure shows guided-mode resonance even at a thickness limit of ∼10 nm and is capable of realizing polaritonic dispersion in a monolithic grating structure.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of scoria powder in onggi (Korean earthenware) on the meat quality of pork loins during 21 days of dry aging and to elucidate its mechanism of action.
Methods: The pork loins were randomly divided into three groups: aged in vacuum-packaging, onggi containing red clay only (OR), and onggi containing 30% red clay and 70% scoria powder (OS).
Background: Although the PRISMS study did not demonstrate the benefit of intravenous alteplase administration in patients with mild stroke within 3 h, about 30% of patients presenting with mild symptoms showed unfavorable functional outcomes. We investigated the factors predictive of functional disability at 90 days in patients who were excluded from alteplase administration due to the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores of 0-5 and a score between 0 and 2 for each NIHSS score item.

Introduction: This prospective cohort study investigated the clinical role of circulating tumor necrosis factor receptor (cTNFR) levels as prognostic biomarkers in severe acute kidney injury (AKI) patients requiring continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT).
Methods: We enrolled 136 patients from 7 hospitals participating in the VENUS (VolumE maNagement Under body composition monitoring in critically ill patientS on CRRT) trial from July 2017 to October 2019. The levels of cTNFR1 and cTNFR2 were measured using plasma samples collected on days 0 (D0), 2 (D2), and 7 (D7).
The strong excitonic properties of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMD) have led to the successful demonstration of exciton-polaritons (EPs) in various optical cavity structures. Recently, self-hybridized EPs have been discovered in a bare TMD layer, but experimental investigation is still lacking because of their nonradiative nature. Herein, the direct observation of self-hybridized EPs in a bare multilayer WS via the evanescent field coupling technique is reported.

Polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based diagnostic testing is the gold standard method for pathogen identification (ID) with recent developments enabling automated PCR tests for point-of-care (POC) use. However, multiplexed identification of several pathogens in PCR assays typically requires optics for an equivalent number of fluorescence channels, increasing instrumentation's complexity and cost. In this study, we first developed ratiometric PCR that surpassed one target per color barrier to allow multiplexed identification while minimizing optical components for affordable POC use.
