Interfissural Fixation of the Right Middle Lobe after Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery Right Upper Lobectomy: Bronchial Anatomical Changes and Efficacy in Preventing Torsion.

Background: Torsion of the right middle lobe following right upper lobectomy is a rare but potentially fatal complication. To prevent this, fixation of the right middle lobe has been suggested. This study was performed to examine the impact of right middle lobe fixation on postoperative outcomes and bronchial changes.

Soluble klotho as a marker of renal fibrosis and podocyte injuries in human kidneys.

Klotho deficiency is relevant to renal fibrosis and podocyte injury in vivo and in vitro. We examined whether histological findings of renal biopsy specimens were associated with the levels of soluble klotho in humans. We investigated renal biopsy specimens of 67 patients and detailed microscopic findings were reviewed.

A supraclavicular cephalic vein drained into the subclavian vein.

Although the cephalic vein follows a fairly consistent course, numerous variants have been reported. We found a rare anatomical presentation of the cephalic vein in a 75-year-old Korean male cadaver. The left cephalic vein was identified in the deltopectoral groove, ascended over the clavicle, and terminated into the left subclavian vein just before its union with the left internal jugular vein.

A case of scrub typhus requiring maintenance hemodialysis.

Renal failure caused by scrub typhus is known to be reversible. In most cases, renal function is almost fully restored after appropriate antibiotic treatment. A 71-year-old man was diagnosed with scrub typhus complicated by renal failure.

Diverticular Choledochal Cyst with a Large Impacted Stone Masquerading as Mirizzi's Syndrome.

Choledochal cysts are congenital anomalies of the biliary tract manifested by cystic dilatation of the extrahepatic and intrahepatic bile ducts. Choledochal cyst is not rare in far-East Asian countries. Type II choledochal cysts account for 2% of all such cysts.
