Objective: This study aimed to examine the effects of microcirculatory dysfunction and 654-1 intervention after cardiopulmonary resuscitation on myocardial injury.

Methods: Landrace pigs were divided into a sham operation group (S group, = 6), ventricular fibrillation control group (VF-C group, = 8) and 654-1 intervention group (VF-I group, = 8). Hemodynamics was recorded at baseline, at recovery of spontaneous circulation (ROSC), and 1 h, 2 h, 4 h and 6 h thereafter.

β-carotene is a precursor of vitamin A and has multiple physiological functions. Producing β-carotene by microbial fermentation has attracted much attention to consumers' preference for natural products. This study focused on improving β-carotene production by constructing codon-adapted genes and minimizing intermediate accumulation.

Sterols attract increasing attention due to their important bioactivities. The oleaginous yeast Yarrowia lipolytica has large lipid droplets, which provide storage for the accumulated steroid compounds. In this study, we have successfully constructed a campesterol biosynthetic pathway by modifying the synthetic pathway of ergosterol in Y.

Microbial oil triacylglycerol (TAG) from the renewable feedstock attract much attention. The oleaginous yeast has become the most studied for lipid biosynthesis. Fatty acid desaturases catalyze the introduction of a double bond into fatty-acid hydrocarbon chains to produce unsaturated fatty acids.

The effect of enhanced-efficiency nitrogen (N) fertilizers on emissions of nitrous oxide (NO) from the grey desert agricultural soils of Xinjiang is uncertain. In this study, the enhanced-efficiency fertilizers, polymer-coated urea (ESN), and stabilized urea with urease and nitrification inhibitors (U+I) were compared to conventional urea (U) for NO emissions from cotton under plastic mulch drip irrigation near Urumqi, Xinjiang. ESN was added once at planting but the other treatments were added multiple times with drip irrigation during the growing season.

A new type of flexible organic tribotronic transistor memory is proposed, which can be written and erased by externally applied touch actions as an active memory. By further coupling with an organic light-emitting diode (OLED), a visible and wearable touch monitoring system is achieved, in which touch triggering can be memorized and shown as the emission from the OLED.

A biomimetic minimalist model membrane was used to study the mechanism and kinetics of cell-free in vitro HIV-1 Gag budding from a giant unilamellar vesicle (GUV). Real-time interaction of Gag, RNA, and lipid, leading to the formation of mini-vesicles, was measured using confocal microscopy. Gag forms resolution-limited punctae on the GUV lipid membrane.

Dunaliella salina, a unicelluar green alga that can tolerate an extreme variation of salt concentration is being studied as a model system to analyze the tolerance of abiotic stresses at the molecular level. Upon abnormal NaCl levels, new transcripts were abundantly expressed in cells of the alga. EST gene discovery efforts utilizing salt-shock cells had identified one cDNA designated Dscbr (GenBank accession no.
