Integrating photocatalysis with electrocatalysis may represent a synergistic approach to address environmental and energy challenges. In this context, we explored synthesizing a series of nanocomposite materials using a solid-state approach involving simple grinding and subsequent thermal treatment for the photocatalytic purification of dinoseb and electrocatalytic oxygen evolution (OER). Interestingly, among the series of synthesized materials, 40 wt percentage of 3D/2D/1D:ZnFeO/NiAl-LDH/MWCNTs ternary nanocomposite (40-NZM) showed highly improved dinoseb detoxification and OER efficiencies compared to those of pure materials.

The diagnosis of brain metastases (BMs) in patients with lung cancer (LC) predominantly relies on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), a method that is constrained by high costs and limited accessibility. This study explores the potential of serum neurofilament light chain (sNfL) and serum glial fibrillary acidic protein (sGFAP) as screening biomarkers for BMs in LC patients. We conducted a retrospective analysis of 700 LC cases at the National Cancer Center, Korea, from July 2020 to June 2022, measuring sNfL and sGFAP levels at initial LC diagnosis.

In this work, a simple and facile approach was employed for the preparation of the ternary hybrids comprising of titanium dioxide, zinc oxide and graphitic nitride (designated as TZG-TH) with varying compositions of the components. In the context of complex and multi-stages involved for preparation of many of the THs in the literature, the present work uses the much simpler mythology for the preparation of TH. Nanofluids (NF) were formulated in ethylene glycol: water base fluid using TZG TH as the solid particles.

Article Synopsis
  • KRAS mutations in circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) serve as important noninvasive prognostic markers for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), with a study analyzing them in 128 patients to assess their predictive value and relation to treatment strategies.
  • The study found KRAS mutations in 93% of tumor DNA and 53.1% of ctDNA, with higher concordance rates in metastatic cases; ctDNA provided better overall survival and progression-free survival predictions compared to tumor DNA.
  • Additionally, the KRAS G12C inhibitor sotorasib demonstrated selective tumor-suppressive effects in preclinical models, suggesting that studying KRAS mutations could enhance personalized treatment approaches for PDAC.
