Cognitive functional therapy (CFT) is a physiotherapy-led intervention that has evolved from an integration of foundational behavioral psychology and neuroscience within the physiotherapist practice directed at the multidimensional nature of chronic low back pain (CLBP). The current evidence about the comparative effectiveness of CFT for CLBP is still scarce. We aimed to investigate whether CFT is more effective than core training exercise and manual therapy (CORE-MT) in pain and disability in patients with CLBP.

Continuous sampling of emission into air of dioxins has been one of the targets of Directive 2010/75/EU Of The European Parliament And Of The Council on industrial emissions (Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control, IED Directive) since year 2010. The present research was aimed at verifying the applicability of a long-term sampling system at the sinter plant of a large steel works in Taranto, Southern Italy, and to perform its validation compared to the standard reference method. Automated long-term samplings of 15 and 30 d were performed in parallel with manual short-term sampling, the latter with a frequency of two per week.

Objective: Scapular stabilization exercises (SSE) are well-established for the able-bodies. The aim of the current study is to access the potential benefits of SSE on isometric internal and external rotator strength, endurance and function of the shoulder in persons with tetraplegia, throughout a 12-week exercise program consisting of five resisted movements with elastic bands.

Design: Prospective non-controlled intervention study.

Background: When performing the Valsalva maneuver (VM), adults and preadolescents produce the same expiratory resistance values.

Objective: To analyze heart rate (HR) in preadolescents performing VM, and propose a new method for selecting expiratory resistance.

Method: The maximal expiratory pressure (MEP) was measured in 45 sedentary children aged 9-12 years who subsequently performed VM for 20 s using an expiratory pressure of 60%, 70%, or 80% of MEP.

PCDD/F in exhaust gas emission samples was determined by the Environmental Agency of Apulia for a sinter plant located in Taranto (Italy) starting from June 2007 following an Agreement Act between plant owners and the Regional Government with the aim to assess and improve the environmental performances of the plant. The first two sampling campaigns yielded results ranging between 3.42 and 8.
