Objective: Investigate MRI evidence of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) healing, patient-reported outcomes and knee laxity in patients with acute ACL rupture managed non-surgically with the Cross Bracing Protocol (CBP).

Methods: Eighty consecutive patients within 4 weeks of ACL rupture were managed with CBP (knee immobilisation at 90° flexion in brace for 4 weeks, followed by progressive increases in range-of-motion until brace removal at 12 weeks, and physiotherapist-supervised goal-oriented rehabilitation). MRIs (3 months and 6 months) were graded using the ACL OsteoArthritis Score (ACLOAS) by three radiologists.

Background: Adipose tissue is an attractive source of cells for therapeutic purposes because of the ease of harvest and the high frequency of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). Whilst it is clear that MSCs have significant therapeutic potential via their ability to secrete immuno-modulatory and trophic cytokines, the therapeutic use of mixed cell populations from the adipose stromal vascular fraction (SVF) is becoming increasingly common.

To assess the effects of currently used prescribed in-shoe custom foot orthoses (CFOs) on a number of biomechanical variables during the power phase of cycling, including: hip adduction, knee abduction and tibial internal rotation. Before and after cross-over study recording subjects' biomechanical variables with and without their CFOs. Twelve competitive cyclists, currently using prescribed in-shoe CFOs, performed two exercise bouts on a stationary trainer, with 3-dimensional data recorded on an 8 camera Vicon Mx system.

Background/hypothesis: Shoulder pain in elite swimmers is common, and its pathogenesis is uncertain. HYPOTHESIS/STUDY DESIGN: The authors used a cross-sectional study design to test Jobe's hypothesis that repetitive forceful swimming leads to shoulder laxity, which in turn leads to impingement pain.

Methods: Eighty young elite swimmers (13-25 years of age) completed questionnaires on their swimming training, pain and shoulder function.

Objective: To determine the interobserver and intraobserver reliability of the interpretation of MRIs for supraspinatus tendinosis.

Methods: In the interobserver trial, the MRIs of 52 athletes' shoulders were observed by 3 observers on one occasion within a 2-month period. All 52 images were read by the most experienced musculoskeletal radiologist on 3 different occasions on separate days without access to the previous readings for the intraobserver trial.
