Remote interrogation and reprogramming of cardiac implantable electronic devices using a custom multivendor solution.

Background: Until recently, remote interrogation and reprogramming of therapeutic cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) have been virtually nonexistent owing to technical challenges and safety concerns. It could be extremely useful, in particular in case of emergencies, when patients live far from CIED professionals or during enforced physical distancing.

Objective: We investigated the feasibility and safety of a custom solution for remote interrogation and reprogramming of CIEDs from various manufacturers in various clinically relevant situations.
