Under the Sunshine Act, pharmaceutical and product industry payments to physicians are reported in a public database. We sought to characterize payments received by pediatricians in the first full year of disclosures in 2014. We used the National Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Open Payment files to identify pediatricians who received payments.

Thromboembolic complications in children after spinal fusion surgery.

Study Design: Retrospective review.

Objective: To identify the incidence of venous thromboembolic (VTE) complications and pulmonary embolism (PE) in children undergoing spinal fusion surgery, to report associated mortality, and to analyze factors associated with their development.

Summary Of Background Data: The incidence of these complications after pediatric spinal fusion surgery is unknown.

Functional outcomes of adults with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome.

Purpose: The 22q11.2 deletion syndrome is a common multisystem genomic disorder with congenital and later-onset manifestations, including congenital heart disease, intellectual disability, and psychiatric illness, that may affect long-term functioning. There are limited data on adult functioning in 22q11.

Home care practices for newborns in rural southern Nepal during the first 2 weeks of life.

The provision of essential newborn care through integrated packages is essential to improving survival. We analyzed data on newborn care practices collected among infants who participated in a community-based trial in rural Nepal. Analysis focused on feeding, hygienic, skin/cord care and thermal care practices.
