Article Synopsis
  • Infrared thermography (IRT) is a non-contact method used to measure skin surface temperature and has been applied to studying sexual arousal since the 1980s, offering advantages over traditional genital response measures.* -
  • The article reviews various experimental studies that demonstrate IRT's feasibility and validity as a real-time measure of sexual arousal, highlighting the effectiveness of this technique in sexual psychophysiology.* -
  • Despite the encouraging results, the review notes significant variability in the methodologies used across studies, emphasizing the need for standardized IRT protocols tailored for sexual physiology research.*
