Dark matter (DM) particles with sufficiently large cross sections may scatter as they travel through Earth's bulk. The corresponding changes in the DM flux give rise to a characteristic daily modulation signal in detectors sensitive to DM-electron interactions. Here, we report results obtained from the first underground operation of the DAMIC-M prototype detector searching for such a signal from DM with MeV-scale mass.

The search is performed with an integrated exposure of 85.23 g days, and exploits the subelectron charge resolution and low level of dark current of DAMIC-M charge-coupled devices (CCDs).

Evidence suggested how continuous updating in cardiovascular area both for nurses and physicians was essential to improve patient outcomes in clinical process, welfare and rehabilitation, since physicians and nurses could play a key role in empowering the care of patients affected by the acute myocardium infarction (AMI). Although the correlation between continuous training and improvement of nursing care was therefore clear, the difficulties that nurses encountered in AMI patients' management remained unexplored.

The coexistence of CLL and COVID-19 raises many questions regarding the possible increased risk of developing COVID-19 among patients with CLL, the problems in managing therapies for both diseases and, above all, the difficulties in diagnosing COVID-19 in patients affected by CLL. In our patient, an 84-year-old man, the recognition of COVID-19 was delayed because of its atypical clinical presentation and technical problems related to the methods used for the diagnosis.

Thus, a rapid, simple and cost-effective approach to more easily access fluids and tissues is in great need. Here, we exploit the chemical direct reprogramming of patient skin fibroblasts into neurons (chemically induced neurons, ciNs) as a novel strategy for the rapid detection of different pathological markers of neurodegenerative diseases.

Several studies investigated the association of the FKBP5 gene polymorphisms with susceptibility to anxiety, depression, and behavioral disorders. The FKBP5 gene codifies the FKBP51 protein which modulates the glucocorticoid receptor in the adaptive stress response.

In this study we evaluated whether DNA-PK participates in oxidative stress response and whether this role is independent of its function in DNA repair.
Methods And Results: We used a model of HO-induced DNA damage in PC12 cells (rat pheochromocytoma), a well-known neuronal tumor cell line.
Background The long-term post-acute pulmonary sequelae of COVID-19 remain unknown. Purpose To evaluate lung injury in patients affected by COVID-19 pneumonia at the 6-month follow-up CT examination compared with the baseline chest CT examination. Materials and Methods From March 19, 2020, to May 24, 2020, patients with moderate to severe COVID-19 pneumonia who had undergone baseline chest CT were prospectively enrolled at their 6-month follow-up.

We investigated the potential anti-angiogenic properties of specific 6-phosphofructo-2-kinase/fructose-2,6-bisphosphatase-3 (PFKFB3) inhibitors in endothelial cells (ECs). ECs were treated with PFKFB3 inhibitors (named PA-1 and PA-2) and their effects on metabolic and functional characteristics of ECs were investigated.

It has been reported also in patients with COVID-19, Hodgkin disease and chronic lymphocytic leukemia. We analyzed the clinical relevance of Low T3 syndrome in COVID-19 patients and, in particular, in those with associated hematological malignancies.

Usually, coronavirus infection is characterized by dysregulated host immune responses, interleukine-6 increase, hyper-activation of cytotoxic CD8 T lymphocytes. Interestingly, Vitamin D deficiency has been often associated with altered immune responses and infections.

Our objective was to clarify the role of nicotine in SARS-CoV-2 infection exploring its molecular and cellular activity. (2) Methods: HBEpC or si-mRNA-α7-HBEpC were treated for 1 h, 48 h or continuously with 10 M nicotine, a concentration mimicking human exposure to a cigarette.

Methods From January 2017 to June 2020 from 156 pelvic fractures treated at our hospitals, 98 patients with pelvic fractures were recruited according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. All patients compiled three scores (New Score System, Majeed Score, SF-12) sessions two times during the hospital stay to evaluate the endpoint before the trauma and two years after the trauma.

The aim is to evaluate if Quantitative Chest CT could provide reliable information in discriminating COVID-19 from non-COVID-19 patients.
Materials And Methods: From March 31, 2020 until April 18, 2020, patients with Chest CT suggestive for interstitial pneumonia were retrospectively enrolled and divided into two groups based on positive/negative COVID-19 RT-PCR results.
In December 2019 a novel coronavirus, named severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 was identified and the disease associated was named coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Fever, cough, myalgia, fatigue associated to dyspnea represent most common clinical symptoms of the disease. The reference standard for diagnosis of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection is real time reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction test applied on respiratory tract specimens.

Several data have demonstrated the implication of microRNAs (miRNAs) in tumorigenicity of GBM stem-like cells (GSCs). The regulatory functions of miRNAs in GSCs have emerged as potential therapeutic candidates for glioma treatment.

Often the side effects of the medications used (antiinflammatories, antibiotics, alpha blockers) far outweighs the benefits gained with their admission. The choice of nutraceutical medications is preferred for their effectiveness, that has been accepted and proven by the scientific community, and for the low incidence of side effects.

However, this disease is burdened with a high risk of recurrence or progression. For this reason, we sought to review and summarize the current evidence with a non-systematic Medline/PubMed literature search, regarding optimal treatment in BCG failure patients.

There are very few reported cases of traumatic amputation of the male genitalia due to animal bite. The management involves thorough washout of the wounds, debridement, antibiotic prophylaxis, tetanus and rabies immunization followed by immediate reconstruction or primary wound closure with delayed reconstruction, when immediate reconstruction is not feasible. When immediate reconstruction is not feasible, long-term good functional and cosmetic results are still possible in the majority of cases by performing total phallic reconstruction.
