We report two cases resulting in complications following suture ligation treatment for ulnar polydactyly. One case consisted of bilateral, retained gangrene and cellulitis, and a second case consisted of a residual, sensitive skin tag. The case involving gangrene and cellulitis developed after an unsuccessful suture ligation of bilateral pedunculated duplicated digits.

Purpose: To report the epidemiology, mechanism, anatomical location, distribution, and severity of open extensor tendon injuries in the digits, hand, and forearm as well as the frequency of associated injuries to surrounding bone and soft tissue.

Methods: Retrospective chart review was conducted for patients who had operative repair of open digital extensor tendon injuries in all zones within an 11-year period. Data was grouped according to patient characteristics, zone of injury, mechanism of injury, and presence of associated injury.

Pilon fractures associated with compartment syndrome are rare occurrences despite the relatively high-energy mechanisms that cause many pilon fractures. We report an unusual case of pilon fracture in an adult, which was complicated by development of compartment syndrome. It was successfully treated with four-compartment leg fasciotomy with good results.

We describe 4 patients who were treated for symptomatic triggering of the index and small fingers with pain on the dorsum of the hand and were found to have impingement of an extensor tendon on the extensor retinaculum at the wrist. All cases were treated by release of the extensor retinaculum and excision of pathologic structures.
