Low-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma (LG-ESS) can present diagnostic challenges, due to its overlapping morphological features with other uterine mesenchymal tumors. Misdiagnosis rates remain significant, and immunohistochemical data for LG-ESS are limited to small series and inconsistent antibody panels. This study aimed to refine the IHC profile of LG-ESS by analyzing a large, molecularly confirmed series of 147 cases using a panel of 24 antibodies, including newer markers like transgelin and smoothelin.

In this case report, we present a 61-year-old man from Moldova, living in the Czech Republic, who had worked as a locksmith on oil platforms in Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Sudan, and Iraq since 1999, and was admitted to a neurology ward for a sudden motion disorder of the right leg, dysarthria, and hypomimia. Imaging revealed presence of expansive focus around the left lateral ventricle of the brain and a pronounced peripheral edema.

Microscopically, the tumor consisted of groups of tumor cells surrounded by dense lymphoplasmacytic infiltrate. Immunohistochemically, the tumour cells were positive for cytokeratins AE1/AE3, EMA, PAX8, p16, and estrogen receptors.

It was observed that the number of cases of cerebellar granular layer atrophy rose markedly in the years 1984-1990 as compared with 1976-1983 (45.4% vs 16.

In a patient aged 34 with lymphoblastic lymphoma lymphomatous infiltrations developed in the leptomeninges but were controlled with radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Recurrence of neurological signs after 7 months was recognized as relapse of lymphoma in the central nervous system, but in the brain extensive demyelination and necrotic changes were found. The authors relate the development of leucoencephalopathy to the hypersensitivity of the nervous tissue to chemotherapy after previous radiotherapy.

On the basis of clinical neuropathological evaluation of 48 patients with acute myeloblastic leukaemias the authors analyse the risk factors of leukemic infiltrations developing in the brain. The investigations revealed that the distinct dissemination of leukemic cells in blood is the most important risk factor of such infiltrations. The risk increases significantly in older patients.

In 37 patients the neuropathological examination was also done. Polyneuropathy was the most frequent sign of nervous system involvement, observed in 40% of patients before chemotherapy and markedly enhanced by cytostatics.

It was showed that MTX applied according to the program applied as a prophylaxis against lymphomatous infiltrations in the central nervous system, caused demyelination of spinal roots and fibrosis of leptomeninges and their blood vessels. However, it does not affect spinal cord structures.

It is suggested that: the evaluation of the influence of chemotherapy on peripheral nervous system (PNS) is possible by means of systematic neurological and electroneurographic studies; electroneurographic assessment is most important in the diagnosis of early subclinical stages of peripheral neuropathy; toxic influence of CBVPM/AVBP protocol on PNS is greater than CHOP schedule; impairment of PNS due to chemotherapy is reversible in patients during complete remission (CR).

Numerous mitoses within the tumor provide an evidence for local cell proliferation in the neoplasm. Surgery combined with radiotherapy is suggested as the most efficient modality of the treatment.

The purpose of the paper was an attempt to become better acquainted with the character and incidence rate of degenerative changes within the nervous system in non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. Neuropathological studies were carried out in 30 patients, aged 17-75 years, deceased due to: lymphoblastic lymphoma (15 cases), centrocytic (5 cases), immunoblastic (4 cases), centroblastic (3 cases) and immunocytic lymphoma (3 cases). The investigations revealed that degenerative changes prevail in the peripheral nervous system: within the spinal roots in the form of primary demyelination and within peripheral nerves of axonal degeneration.

In patients with neoplasms located outside the central nervous system can appear degenerative changes within nervous tissue. Neuropathological investigations have been done on 101 cases with acute Non-Lymphoblastic Leukaemias (ANLL) and Non-Hodgkin's Lymphomas (NHL). Cerebellar degenerative changes especially granular layer rarefaction or atrophy appear more frequently in ANLL than in NHL.
