Assessment of Oral Health Education with the Simplified Oral Hygiene Index in Military Students - A Comparative Study.

Purpose: To assess the impact of participation in a group oral health education course on oral hygiene in Romanian military students compared to a non-participant control group.

Materials And Methods: A sample of 318 participants was enrolled from 805 recruited students. Baseline and 6-month post-intervention Simplified Oral Hygiene Index (OHI-S) scores were compared between an oral health education intervention (OHE) group (N = 159) and a control group (N = 159) using Student's t-test.

Knowledge and Skills Level on Oral Health Among Students at the "Ferdinand I" Military Technical Academy in Bucharest.

The increase in the number of clinical cases with varying levels of damage to dental structures among young adults due to caries and excessive consumption of sweets and acidic beverages leads to questions about why there is an increase of cases despite all means of information. Is there a lack of interest in oral health among young adults? The aim of this study was to evaluate the knowledge and skills level of the students regarding oral health in order to conceive and implement an oral health educational program adapted to their needs and interests. The survey method using a questionnaire was administered to students in the first, second, and third academic year at the "Ferdinand I" Military Technical Academy (Bucharest, Romania) in March 2019 and included general data and specific information about oral health.

Assessment of Force Retention between Milled Metallic and Ceramic Telescopic Crowns with Different Taper Angles Used for Oral Rehabilitation.

The present study assessed the retention forces corresponding to different telescopic systems used in removable prosthetic dentures. The telescopic systems were represented by Co-Cr alloy or zirconia-based primary crowns and Co-Cr secondary crowns. All crowns were manufactured using computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing technology (CAD/CAM).

Age influence on periodontal tissues: a histological study.

Oral mucosa becomes thinner, smooth and looses stippling aspect with aging. From histological standpoint appears: narrowing and alteration of gingival epithelium, modification of epithelial-connective interface and decreasing of keratinization. However, it cannot be detected significant histological alterations in size, shape or arrangement of epithelial cells that could be endorsed to aging process.
