This study aimed to create a risk prediction model with artificial intelligence (AI) to identify patients at higher risk of postpartum hemorrhage using perinatal characteristics that may be associated with later postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) in twin pregnancies that underwent cesarean section. The study was planned as a retrospective cohort study at University Hospital. All twin cesarean deliveries were categorized into two groups: those with and without PPH.

Objective: This study was conducted as a randomized controlled trial to investigate the effect of breathing exercises on fatigue in patients diagnosed with tuberculosis.

Methods: The tuberculosis patients included in the study were divided into two groups: intervention (26) and control (28) by a program established after the power analysis. After the researcher informed the patients in the intervention group about breathing exercises, including diaphragmatic and pursed lip breathing, they were taught, and the first exercise was practiced.

Article Synopsis
  • * Conducted from December 2020 to June 2021, it involved 79 participants, using questionnaires and the Tuberculosis-Related Stigma Scale (TSS) to measure stigma, with a higher score indicating greater stigma.
  • * Results showed that over half of the participants experienced negative societal perceptions of TB, significantly impacting communication with family; the average stigma score was very high at 103.51, particularly among smokers and those affected in their professional lives.

Background: The purpose of this study was to examine the reliability and validity of the Turkish version of the Nursing Activities Score.

Methods: To validate the Turkish version of the Nursing Activities Score, a sample comprising 30 adult intensive care patients and 30 nurses was employed. After a pilot study, the internal consistency, Cronbach's alpha coefficient, was found to be p = 0.

During native cartilage development, endogenous TGF-β activity is tightly regulated by cell-mediated chemical reactions in the extracellular milieu (e.g., matrix and receptor binding), providing spatiotemporal control in a manner that is localized and short acting.

Article Synopsis
  • The study explores the connection between fragmented QRS complexes (fQRS) and preeclampsia (PE) in pregnant women, focusing on how these electrocardiogram markers may indicate heart issues related to hypertensive disorders during pregnancy.
  • Conducted between 2015 and 2023, the research included 128 women with PE and 122 low-risk controls, revealing a higher prevalence of fQRS in the preeclamptic group (14.1% vs. 3.3%) and significant differences in clinical and laboratory parameters.
  • The results suggest that there is a strong association between fQRS and preeclampsia, potentially due to electrolyte imbalances

Hyperuricemia during hypertension is associated with aberrant vascular functions and increased oxidative stress, which affects endothelial dysfunction. Nevertheless, the molecular mechanisms underlying the effects of uric acid on vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) through oxidative stress remain unclear. The aim of the present study was to investigate the dose- and time-dependent effects of uric acid on oxidative stress and p53 protein expression in VSMCs.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the fetal modified (mod)-myocardial performance index (MPI) for fetal cardiac function in placenta percreta (PPC) pregnancies with placenta previa (PP) and assess neonatal outcomes.

Materials And Methods: This study included 104 pregnant women: 52 with PPC and 52 as the control group. Mod-MPI measurements and neonatal outcomes were evaluated in all cases.

Article Synopsis
  • The study compared maternal and neonatal outcomes in 62 pregnant women diagnosed with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) based on different platelet counts.
  • It found that most patients had ITP diagnosed during pregnancy, with an average maternal platelet count during birth of 84/μL and an average neonatal platelet count of 242/μL.
  • Results showed no significant differences in morbidity and mortality rates for mothers and newborns, attributed to effective collaboration among medical departments involved in their care.

Problem: This study aimed to evaluate the predictive value of delta neutrophil index (DNI), a peripheral blood parameter, on perinatal outcomes in pregnant women with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

Method Of Study: One hundred eighty-one participants, 78 pregnant women with SLE, and 103 healthy pregnant women were included in this retrospective study. Peripheral blood parameters including neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and DNI taken in the first trimester were compared between groups.

Conventionally, for cartilage tissue engineering applications, transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) is administered at doses that are several orders of magnitude higher than those present during native cartilage development. While these doses accelerate extracellular matrix (ECM) biosynthesis, they may also contribute to features detrimental to hyaline cartilage function, including tissue swelling, type I collagen (COL-I) deposition, cellular hypertrophy, and cellular hyperplasia. In contrast, during native cartilage development, chondrocytes are exposed to moderate TGF-β levels, which serve to promote strong biosynthetic enhancements while mitigating risks of pathology associated with TGF-β excesses.

Introduction: Cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) modulator drugs target the underlying defect and improve CFTR function. They are a part of standard care in many countries, but not all patients are eligible for these drugs due to age and genotype. Here, we aimed to determine the characteristics of non-eligible patients for CFTR modulators in the CF registry of Turkey (CFRT) to highlight their clinical needs.

Objective: Radiotherapy is an important treatment for a wide variety of malignancies, although many cancer patients who receive radiotherapy suffer from serious side effects during and after their treatment. Thymoquinone (TQ), the main active ingredient of Nigella sativa, has been reported to have various pharmacological properties, such as antioxidant, hepatoprotective, neuroprotective, antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, nephroprotective, anticarcinogenic in many pharmacological and toxicological studies. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether there is a radioprotective effect of TQ on the lung tissue of rats exposed to ionizing radiation.
