The Role of In Vivo Confocal Microscopy in Ocular Allergies.

In vivo confocal microscopy (IVCM) is a non-invasive imaging technique used to visualize the layers of the cornea and conjunctiva in real time. In patients with atopic keratoconjunctivitis (AKC) and vernal keratoconjunctivitis (VKC), this technology can be useful in diagnosing and monitoring the disease, as well as evaluating the efficacy of treatments. IVCM can reveal subclinical abnormalities in the corneal and conjunctival epithelium such as inflammatory cell infiltrates and tissue damage, which can provide insight into the pathogenesis of AKC.

Altered cervical proprioception and biomechanics in obstructive sleep apnea: a case-control study.

Purpose: This study aimed to compare cervical proprioception and related biomechanical factors among patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and asymptomatic controls.

Methods: In this case-control study, polysomnography scores (apnea-hypopnea index-AHI) were examined to determine the disease severity of the OSA group. Also, we evaluated cervical proprioception by using a laser pointer to detect joint repositioning error sense in cervical rotational movements.

Inter-cycle variability of anti-Müllerian hormone: implications for predicting controlled ovarian stimulation cycle outcomes.

Background: Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) is a widely used marker for estimating ovarian reserve, and it may predict response to ovarian stimulation. While AMH is considered a stable, cycle-independent marker, studies have shown it can exhibit significant fluctuations based on factors like age, reproductive stage, and menstrual cycle phase. The fluctuations in AMH levels can make it challenging to predict individual responses accurately, particularly when the AMH is not measured in the COS cycle.

The effects of trastuzumab therapy on endothelial functions of breast cancer patients.

Objective: Breast cancer is among the highest causes of morbidity and mortality in women. Trastuzumab therapy, which is known to be significantly cardiotoxic, is mainly used to treat patients with resistant breast cancer, including estrogen receptor-positive type. Therapeutic Aqueous Humor Concentrations of Latanoprost Attained in Rats by Administration in a Very-High-Molecular-Weight Hyaluronic Acid Eye Drop.

The temporal change in concentration of a novel medicine, Latanoprost (LP), was evaluated in the aqueous humor of rats (6-8-week-old Jcl:Wister rats) when delivered in a very-high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid (vHiHA) eye drop. Animals were randomly assigned to three treatment groups (LP + vHiHA (LPvHiHA), commercial LP (cLP), and diluted LP (dLP)) and after instilling the eye drops, the aqueous humor (AH) was collected at 0.5, 1, 2, 4, and 6 h to measure the LP concentration using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
