Comparison of microbial profiles and viral status along the vagina-cervix-endometrium continuum of infertile patients.

For decades, the endometrium was considered to be a sterile environment. However, now this concept is disputed, and there is growing evidence that microbiota composition might affect endometrial receptivity. Routine clinical management of infertility is still limited to a microbiological assessment of the lower reproductive tract.

[Sarcoidosis: 25-year clinical follow-up].

Based on the follow-up of 1,600 patients with sarcoidosis from 1971 to 1996, the authors analyzed the value of various methods for identifying the disease, the frequency and nature of misdiagnoses. They showed the efficiency of basic treatments in patients with sarcoidosis: corticosteroidal hormones, nonhormonal antiinflammatory drugs, plasmapheresis, and physiotherapy. Recurrencies and progression were seen in 23.

[Eosinophilic pneumonia: course and prognosis].

Clinical manifestations of eosinophilic pneumonia (EP) are characterized basing on examination of 40 patients aged 19-65 years. The disease arose primarily due to chemicals, first of all, to medicinal agents. Eosinophils were found in peripheral blood, on cytogram of bronchoalveolar lavage, lung biopsies.

[Clinical aspects and course of extrapulmonary sarcoidosis].

Follow-up results (3-15 years) are available for 95 patients with extrapulmonary sarcoidosis. The disease presented with multiple lesions and recurrent course. Peripheral lymph nodes were the most frequent location.

[Sjogren's syndrome and the "dry syndrome" in combination with lung diseases].

Four cases of Sjogren's disease are reported: 2 cases with pulmonary syndrome (fibrosing alveolitis) and 2 cases with respiratory sarcoidosis. The diagnosis was made basing on xerostomia and xerophthalmia. Corticosteroid treatment produced only a partial response.

[Principles of differential diagnosis of diffuse lesions of the lungs].

Intricate questions related to the differential diagnosis of diverse diffuse pulmonary disorders are analysed in more than 1500 patients. Among them 1100 patients had sarcoidosis, 284 alveolitis of different etiology (including 62 patients with fibrotic alveolitis of autoimmune genesis), 45 rare pulmonary diseases, 5 carcinomatosis and 40 disseminated tuberculosis. 70% of the patients were hospitalized for pulmonary tuberculosis.

[Variants of an unfavorable course of sarcoidosis and its differential diagnosis].

The following 3 forms of an unfavorable course of sarcoidosis were identified and described: 1) infiltrative-and-pneumonic; 2) that taking the course of fibrotic alveolitis; and 3) generalized sarcoidosis with hepatolienal syndrome. Clinical and X-ray pictures of these forms together with therapeutic results and outcomes are given.
