Background: The purpose of the current study was to compare the testosteroneestradiol (T:E2) ratio in Toxoplasma gondii seropositive infertile men with seropositive and seronegative normozoospermic controls.

Methods: Totally, 200 men with normal virilization, 100 with idiopathic infertility and 100 normozoospermic men, were included. Participants underwent medical history assessment, physical examination, semen analysis, testing for T.

Iron deficiency anemia (IDA), which causes greater morbidity and mortality in children, has multifactorial causes, including many helminthic and protozoal infections. Herein, the study aimed to find out the frequency and associated risk of sp. infection among children with IDA, together with the estimation of the serum levels of iron, zinc, copper, and vitamin A.

Right up to now, there has not been an effective or safe therapy for trichinellosis. Thus, this study aimed to determine the efficacy of prophylactic and therapeutic regimens of progesterone and mifepristone on the intestinal and muscular phases of experimental Trichinella spiralis infection compared to albendazole. Seven distinct groups of mice were divided as follows: negative, positive, and drug control groups, as well as prophylactic and treatment groups using mifepristone and progesterone.

Susceptibility to COVID-19, the most devastating global pandemic, appears to vary widely across different population groups. Exposure to toxoplasmosis has been proposed as a theory to explain the diversity of these populations. The aim of the present study was to investigate the possible association between latent toxoplasmosis and COVID-19 and its probable correlation with markers of oxidative stress, C-reactive protein (CRP) and ferritin.

Cryptosporidiosis is a global health problem that threatens the lives of immunocompromised patients. This study targets to fabricate and investigate the efficiency of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs), nitazoxanide (NTZ)-loaded ZnO-NPs, and Allium sativum (A. sativum)-loaded ZnO-NPs in treating cryptosporidiosis.

Toxocariasis is an underestimated geohelminthic infection which shows respiratory changes concurrent with larval migration. The purpose of the present study was to detect seropositivity in asthmatic and pneumonic children, and in turn to evaluate its association with the children clinical manifestations, laboratory test results, and sociodemographic risk factors. A total of 50 asthmatic, 50 pneumonic children and 50 healthy controls were subjected to stool analysis by direct wet mount and concentration techniques to exclude possible cross reactivity.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigated the presence and genetic traits of Cryptosporidium spp. in 100 patients with gastrointestinal (GI) cancer in Egypt, comparing them to 20 healthy controls.
  • - Results showed that only 7% of cancer patients tested positive for Cryptosporidium using microscopy and a specific kit, but 40% were positive through a more sensitive genetic test, suggesting underreporting with traditional methods.
  • - It was found that male sex and younger age were significant risk factors for infection, and researchers identified a new subtype of C. parvum, urging further studies to better understand its genetic characteristics.

Purpose: Blastocystis is a common enteric human parasite of non-conclusive pathogenicity which may be determined by subtype (ST) variation. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is considered one of the primary causes of cancer mortality. Blastocystis ST7 has been shown to reduce beneficial intestinal microbiota and may exacerbate CRC.

Background: Nanotechnology has been manufactured from medicinal plants to develop safe, and effective antischistosmal alternatives to replace today's therapies. The aim of the study is to evaluate the prophylactic effect of ginger-derived nanoparticles (GNPs), and the therapeutic effect of ginger aqueous extract, and GNPs on Schistosoma mansoni (S. mansoni) infected mice compared to praziquantel (PZQ), and mefloquine (MFQ).

Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on the prevalence and co-infection of two common zoonotic intestinal parasites in children with acute diarrhea in Beni-Suef, Egypt, assessing children up to 12 years old.
  • Out of 125 children, 72% were found to have at least one intestinal parasite, with 37.6% having a single infection and 34.4% being co-infected, primarily with spp. and spp.
  • Two key risk factors for co-infection were identified: children aged 5-7 years and larger family sizes, with abdominal pain being a notable gastrointestinal symptom associated with co-infection.

is an opportunistic parasite causing life-threatening diseases in immune-compromised patients. The purpose of the study is to determine the seroprevalence of in chemotherapy receiving cancer patients in relation to different types of malignancies, and to estimate the level of interferon gamma in seropositive and seronegative cancer patients and healthy controls. Anti- IgG and IgM antibodies, and interferon gamma were analyzed in 120 cancer patients receiving chemotherapy (60 having hematological malignancies and 60 with solid organ tumors) and 60 healthy controls using ELISA method.
