Analysis of an antimicrobial extract from the agar-based culture of the marine-derived actinomycete Streptomyces sp. G666 led to the isolation of three new shikimic acid derivatives, streptomine A-C (1-3), along with five known compounds (4-8). Their structures were established by their spectral data analyses, including MS and NMR.

Their chemical structures were elucidated by extensive analyses of the HRESIMS and NMR spectral data, as well as comparison with the literature. All of the isolated compounds (except compounds 7-9) significantly exhibited cytotoxic activity against four human cancer cell lines (KB, HepG2, A549 and MCF7), with IC values ranging from 0.

Subsequent bioassays showed the antimicrobial and cytotoxic potential of the isolated compounds. All compounds 1-10 displayed antimicrobial effects against at least one tested reference microorganism with MIC values ranging from 32 to 256 µg mL-1.

Of these, compound 7 was isolated for the first time from the Penicillium genus and compound 1 with carbon-bridged C-7/C-7' linkage is rarely reported. All compounds (1-8) exhibited selective antimicrobial activity against the tested Gram-positive bacteria and Candida albicans with MICs of 32-256 µg/mL.

This study aimed to investigate the MDR and molecular patterns of MRSA isolates in children admitted to the two biggest tertiary care pediatric hospitals in northern and southern Vietnam. A total of 168 MRSA strains were collected to determine antibiotic susceptibility by minimum inhibitory concentration tests.

(strain G246) led to the isolation of two new lavandulylated flavonoids, 6-lavandulyl-7-methoxy-5,2',4'-trihydroxylflavanone () and 5'-lavandulyl-4'-methoxy-2,4,2',6'-tetrahydroxylchalcone (), along with eight known compounds -. Their structures were established by spectral data analysis, including MS, 1D, 2D-NMR and CD.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFour new compounds N-salicyl-3-hydroxyanthranilic acid methyl ester (1), N-(2'-dehydroxysalicyl)-3-hydroxyanthranilic acid methyl ester (2), methyl-4-β-D-allopyranosyl-ferulate (3), and methyl-4-β-D-gulopyranosyl-cinnamate (4), along with six known compounds (5-10), were isolated from the roots of Aconitum carmichelii Debx. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectral data analysis, including 1D, 2D-NMR, and HR-ESI-MS. Compounds 1 and 2 showed the inhibition of nitric oxide (NO) production with IC values of 9.
