Over the last decades, significant progress has been made in studying agonistic and antagonistic hematopoietic peptides. The main disadvantage of this class of peptides is their low stability with noninvasive administration methods, which limits the widespread use of hematopoiesis-regulated peptide drugs in medical practice. The aim of this work is to study novel peptidomimetics with hematopoietic activity sustained in invasive and oral administration.

Thrombosis is an extremely dangerous complication in elderly patients with COVID-19. Since the first months of the pandemic, anticoagulants have been mandatory in treatment protocols for patients with COVID-19, unless there are serious contraindications. We set out to discover if genetic thrombophilia factors continue to play a triggering role in the occurrence of thrombosis in patients with COVID-19 with prophylactic or therapeutic anticoagulants.

Background: Salivary cell secretion (SCS) plays a critical role in blood feeding by medicinal leeches, making them of use for certain medical purposes even today.

Results: We annotated the Hirudo medicinalis genome and performed RNA-seq on salivary cells isolated from three closely related leech species, H. medicinalis, Hirudo orientalis, and Hirudo verbana.

Nowadays, the personalized approach to health care and cancer care in particular is becoming more and more popular and is taking an important place in the translational medicine paradigm. In some cases, detection of the patient-specific individual mutations that point to a targeted therapy has already become a routine practice for clinical oncologists. Wider panels of genetic markers are also on the market which cover a greater number of possible oncogenes including those with lower reliability of resulting medical conclusions.

The preparation and chemistry of novel sulfonyl- and phosphoryl-derived λ(3)-iodanes are reported. These compounds with three different heteroatoms attached to a negatively charged C atom represent potentially useful reagents that combine in one molecule the synthetic advantages of a phosphonium ylide and an iodonium salt. Specifically, they can react with a number of acetylenes, leading to hitherto unknown sulfonyl- and phosphoryl-substituted phosphinolines, phosphininothiophenes, and a novel type of annelated P-containing heterocycle--phosphininopyrazole.

Background: Transcriptome sequencing data has become an integral component of modern genetics, genomics and evolutionary biology. However, despite advances in the technologies of DNA sequencing, such data are lacking for many groups of living organisms, in particular, many plant taxa. We present here the results of transcriptome sequencing for two closely related plant species.
