One of the potential biomarkers that can predict the progression of the disease is the transmembrane adhesion molecule CD44s. The aims of this study were to determine the expression of CD44s in prostate cancer in the central tumor mass and in the tumor periphery of the disease and to compare it with the clinicopathological parameters (PSA, Gleason score, surgical margins, and biochemical recurrence of the disease) in patients treated with radical prostatectomy.

Burnout syndrome among medical nurse-technicians in intensive care units in cardiovascular surgery.

Background: Healthcare workers in intensive care units work under specifically hard conditions compared to healthcare workers who work under regular clinical conditions. Rationale: Monomelic amyotrophy is a rare form of motor neuron disease in which the neurogenic atrophy is restricted to 1 limb, mostly the distal part of the arm. The disease most often occurs in Asia, especially in Japan and India, while in European countries, this disease is rarely recognized. Registration and publication of new cases of this disease aims to increase the awareness of clinicians about the existence of this disease in European countries, and with the aim of easier recognition and faster diagnosis of this essentially benign disorder.

To date, generic questionnaires have been used to investigate quality of life (QoL) in chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) patients. Although these measures are very useful, they are not usually precise enough to measure all specific characteristics of the disease. Our aim was to investigate QoL using the neuromuscular disease-specific questionnaire (individualized neuromuscular quality of life, INQoL) in a large cohort of patients with CIDP.

Unilateral Aplasia versus Bilateral Aplasia of the Vertebral Artery: A Review of Associated Abnormalities.

Morphological characteristics of 108 cases of uni- and bilateral aplasia of the vertebral artery (VA) in reports or images of retrospective studies, including one recent case, published between 1967 and 2016 are analyzed. Incidence, gender, persistence of carotid-vertebrobasilar anastomosis (CVBA), associated with other vascular variants, and vascular pathology in each group of uni- and bilateral VA aplasia are mutually compared. Most of the cases of VA aplasia in ages 31 to 80 were discovered in USA, Japan, and India.
