Mucoceles are benign lesions of salivary glands typically originating from the paranasal sinuses. Intracranial extension and superinfection of these lesions are rare but serious complications of chronic mucoceles. Here, we discuss a patient with a known mucocele, initially lost to follow-up, who presented three years later with headache, purulent rhinorrhea, and intracranial extension of his mucocele with development of an epidural abscess.

Cells respond to multiple signals from the environment simultaneously, which often creates crosstalk between pathways affecting the capacity to adapt to the changing environment. Chaperones are an important component in the cellular integration of multiple responses to environmental signals, often implicated in negative feedback and inactivation mechanisms. These mechanisms include the stabilization of steroid hormone nuclear receptors in the cytoplasm in the absence of their ligand.

G protein-coupled receptor 56 (GPR56/ADGRG1) is an adhesion GPCR with an essential role in brain development and cancer. Elevated expression of GPR56 was observed in the clinical specimens of Glioblastoma (GBM), a highly invasive primary brain tumor. However, we found the expression to be variable across the specimens, presumably due to the intratumor heterogeneity of GBM.

Glioblastoma is the most lethal primary malignant brain tumor in adults. Simplified two-dimensional (2D) cell culture and neurospheres in vitro models fail to recapitulate the complexity of the tumor microenvironment, limiting its ability to predict therapeutic response. Three-dimensional (3D) scaffold-based models have emerged as a promising alternative for addressing these concerns.

Gliomas are heavily infiltrated with immune cells of myeloid origin. Past studies have shown that high-grade gliomas have a higher proportion of alternatively activated and suppressive myeloid cells when compared to low-grade gliomas, which correlate with poor prognosis. However, the differences in immune cell phenotypes within high-grade gliomas (between grade 3 and grade 4 or GBM) are relatively less explored, and a correlation of phenotypic characteristics between immune cells in the blood and high-grade tumors has not been performed.

Endocrine-driven malignancies, including breast and prostate cancer, are among the most common human cancers. The relationship between sex steroid hormones (eg, androgen, estrogen, and progesterone), their cognate receptors, and genomic stability lie at the center of endocrine-driven cancer development, progression, and therapeutic resistance. A variety of direct and indirect mechanisms have been described that link steroid hormone signaling to the loss of genomic integrity that drives early carcinogenesis.

The study focused on the analysis of the nature and site of binding of Phenytoin (PHT) -(a model hydrophobic drug) with Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) (a model protein used as a surrogate for HSA). Interactions with defined amounts of Phenytoin and BSA demonstrated a blue shift (hypsochromic -change in the microenvironment of the tryptophan residue with decrease in the polar environment and more of hydrophobicity) with respect to the albumin protein and a red shift (bathochromic -hydrophobicity and polarity related changes) in the case of the model hydrophobic drug. This shift, albeit lower in magnitude, has been substantiated by a fairly convincing, Phenytoin-mediated quenching of the endogenous fluorophore in BSA.

Normocytic anaemia is caused either by hypoproliferation of haemopoietic tissue or increased destruction of red cells. Osteopetrosis is a rare cause of anaemia. Infantile osteopetrosis (also called malignant osteopetrosis) is diagnosed early in life.
