Type I tympanoplasty in pediatric age - The results of a tertiary hospital.

Introduction: The performance of pediatric tympanoplasty is a matter of controversy in the literature, varying from 35 to 94%. Several authors argue that the performance of tympanoplasty should be delayed until 6-8 years old or even after 10 years old.
Objectives: To analyze the results of type I tympanoplasty in pediatric age and to identify possible prognostic factors.

- Tonsillectomy is a common surgical procedure, but has a notable risk of postoperative hemorrhage, which can be serious, prompting this study to assess its incidence and related risk factors.
- Analyzing data from 897 patients over four years, the study found a 6% incidence of post-tonsillectomy hemorrhage, predominantly occurring more than 24 hours after surgery.
- Factors such as being an adult, having higher INR and aPTT values, and undergoing a concurrent adenoidectomy were identified as significant predictors for increased risk of bleeding.
