Patients' preferences for delivering bad news in palliative care in Ethiopia: a qualitative study.

Background: One of the major challenges for healthcare professionals relates to awareness of patients' preferences relative to how and when to break bad news and how much information should be disclosed in the eventuality of a serious medical diagnosis or prognosis. On occasions, a serious medical diagnosis or prognosis is withheld from the patient. There is a scarcity of evidence about cultural preferences regarding breaking bad news in the palliative care setting in Ethiopia.

Conceptualisation of African primal health care within mental health care.

Background:  It is believed by western education systems that the first contact should be with the nurse in primary health care. However, it is not the case. Therefore, the researcher attempts to correct this misconception by conceptualising the correct beginning of health seeking behaviour in an indigenous African community, namely African Primal Health Care (APHC).
