Functionalized conducting polymers (FCPs) have recently garnered attention as ion-selective sensor materials, surpassing their intrinsic counterparts due to synergistic effects that lead to enhanced electrochemical and analytical parameters. Following a brief introduction of the fundamental concepts, this article provides a comprehensive review of the recent developments in the application of FCPs in ion-selective electrodes (ISEs) and ion-selective optodes (ISOs), particularly as ion-to-electron transducers, optical transducers, and ion-selective membranes. Utilizing FCPs in these devices offers a promising avenue for detecting and measuring ions in various applications, regardless of the sample nature and composition.

These enzymes add a methyl group to cytosine's 5'-carbon, specifically within CpG dinucleotides, using S-adenosyl-L-methionine. Abnormal overexpression of DNMTs can alter the gene expression patterns and contribute to cancer development in the human body.

Despite the recognized impact of toxic metals on DNA repair enzymes, there exists a notable deficiency in theoretical investigations addressing this phenomenon. This study investigates the impact of toxic heavy metal ions, Pb(II) and Ni(II), on the stability of hUNG through molecular dynamics (MD) simulations.

Two biopolymers, chitosan (CTS) and carboxymethyl cellulose were blended with ZO at different w/w ratios. The formulation with 30% w/w chitosan (ZO-CTS) was found to give enhanced uptake of F and As(V).

The sensor was fabricated on cellulose paper using polyemaraldine salt, a form of polyaniline (PAni), the drop coating method. A three-electrode configuration was employed to ensure high accuracy and precision.

Experimentalists have identified the possibility of Cd(II) reducing the activity of human uracil DNA glycosylase (hUNG) by binding with the enzyme replacing the catalytic water molecule. The present study focus on the stability variation of the enzyme in the presence and absence of Cd(II) and confirms the reported results with the stability analysis done using molecular dynamic (MD) simulation trajectories.

These materials open avenues to remove fluoride and lead ions from contaminated water bodies effectively. Composites of HAP containing CeO and La(OH) were prepared using in situ wet precipitation of HAP, followed by the addition of Ce(SO) and La(NO) into the same reaction mixture.

The synthesized materials were characterized using scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area analysis, and thermogravimetric analysis. This revealed the successful synthesis of composites with varied morphologies.

This study is focused on the contribution of inorganic sulfur compounds in the emission of hydrogen sulfide. The measured dissolved oxygen levels have demonstrated good negative correlations with the dissolved sulfide levels implying the oxygen deficiency is the key for the reduction of sulfate ion and sulfite ion to sulfide ion.

Carbon formation over the catalysts during the oxidation reaction was measured by means of Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Catalysts Mn/Al2O3 and Ce/Al2O3, which are selective for deep oxidation of cyclohexane, possessed relatively carbon free surfaces.
