We introduce eFFT, an efficient method for the calculation of the exact Fourier transform of an asynchronous event stream. It is based on keeping the matrices involved in the Radix-2 FFT algorithm in a tree data structure and updating them with the new events, extensively reusing computations, and avoiding unnecessary calculations while preserving exactness. eFFT can operate event-by-event, requiring for each event only a partial recalculation of the tree since most of the stored data are reused.

Background: Music therapy is an emerging and useful methodology for improving patient environments within healthcare fields. However, although it has been shown that music therapy interventions with hospitalised children and adolescents have been used for decades with positive effects, there are currently very few studies that specifically describe the perspectives of healthcare professionals regarding the value of music therapy when applied in these patients.

Objectives: To describe the insights of healthcare professionals regarding music therapy, both on a personal level and in terms of its usefulness in the care of hospitalised children and adolescents.

Hereditary deafness and retinal dystrophy are each genetically heterogenous and clinically variable. Three small unrelated families segregating the combination of deafness and retinal dystrophy were studied by exome sequencing (ES). The proband of Family 1 was found to be compound heterozygous for NM_004525.

Background: O'Donnell-Luria-Rodan syndrome (ODLURO) is an autosomal-dominant neurodevelopmental disorder caused by pathogenic, mostly truncating variants in . It was first described by O'Donnell-Luria in 2019 in a cohort of 38 patients. Clinical features encompass macrocephaly, mild intellectual disability (ID), autism spectrum disorder (ASD) susceptibility and seizure susceptibility.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate the clinical and cost-effectiveness of therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) for adalimumab levels in patients with rheumatic diseases compared to standard care over 18 months.
  • In this non-randomized trial involving 150 patients, the intervention group (IG) showed numerically fewer flares and improved health-related quality of life (HRQoL) metrics at 3 and 6 months compared to the control group (CG).
  • Although the primary endpoint regarding flare reduction wasn't met, the IG had lower direct medical costs and achieved a higher quality-adjusted life years (QALYs), indicating that TDM-based dose adjustment is both effective and cost-efficient.

  • * CHEDDA is different from another condition called DRPLA and is characterized by notable facial features, global developmental delays, and common issues such as severe feeding difficulties and some physical differences in hands and feet.
  • * Our research establishes CHEDDA as a clinical condition linked to mutations in exon 7 of the ATN1 gene and suggests guidelines for diagnosis, monitoring, and early interventions, including the use of neuroimaging for better understanding of prognosis.

Introduction: This study aims to obtain data on the prevalence and incidence of structural heart disease in a population setting and, to analyse and present those data on the application of spatial and machine learning methods that, although known to geography and statistics, need to become used for healthcare research and for political commitment to obtain resources and support effective public health programme implementation.

Methods And Analysis: We will perform a cross-sectional survey of randomly selected residents of Salamanca (Spain). 2400 individuals stratified by age and sex and by place of residence (rural and urban) will be studied.

Introduction: The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada has begun implementing Competence by Design (CBD). However, it is unclear how much urology trainees and faculty know about CBD, their attitudes towards this change, and their willingness to embrace and participate in this new model of training.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted through an online survey, which was administered to all trainees and faculty at Canadian urology programs prior to the implementation of CBD.

GNE myopathy is a rare autosomal recessive muscle disease caused by mutations in GNE, the gene encoding the rate-limiting enzyme in sialic acid biosynthesis. GNE myopathy usually manifests in early adulthood with distal myopathy that progresses slowly and symmetrically, first involving distal muscles of the lower extremities, followed by proximal muscles with relative sparing of the quadriceps. Upper extremities are typically affected later in the disease.

New DNA-based predictive tests for physical characteristics and inference of ancestry are highly informative tools that are being increasingly used in forensic genetic analysis. Two eye colour prediction models: a Bayesian classifier - Snipper and a multinomial logistic regression (MLR) system for the Irisplex assay, have been described for the analysis of unadmixed European populations. Since multiple SNPs in combination contribute in varying degrees to eye colour predictability in Europeans, it is likely that these predictive tests will perform in different ways amongst admixed populations that have European co-ancestry, compared to unadmixed Europeans.

The GNE gene encodes the rate-limiting, bifunctional enzyme of sialic acid biosynthesis, uridine diphosphate-N-acetylglucosamine 2-epimerase/N-acetylmannosamine kinase (GNE). Biallelic GNE mutations underlie GNE myopathy, an adult-onset progressive myopathy. GNE myopathy-associated GNE mutations are predominantly missense, resulting in reduced, but not absent, GNE enzyme activities.

Although continuous positive airway pressure, oral appliances and surgical modifications of the airway are considered as part of the routine management of patients with obstructive sleep apnea, many new and unconventional therapies exist. Many of the trials using these new alternatives have been limited by insufficient data, poor trial design, small sample size, unclear inclusion criteria, lack of randomization, and lack of blinding, and on occasion are biased by retrospective design. Bariatric surgery, positional therapy, auto-titrating positive airway pressure, serotonin agents, wake promoting agents, genioglossus stimulation surgery, supplemental oxygen, nasal dilators, nasal expiratory resistor devices and oropharyngeal exercises will be reviewed.
