Understanding later-life role model choice and motivations, particularly for older men in sport, exercise, and health contexts, is complex and heterogenous, making it difficult for health and exercise promotion initiatives. This qualitative study examined: (1) whether older men have aging role models, and if so, their characteristics; and (2) older men's reasons for role model choice, or lack thereof, and how role models can influence meaningful change in perceptions and practices associated with aging, sport, exercise, and health. Through in-depth interviews and photo-elicitation with 19 Canadian men aged 75 years and over, thematic analysis determined two key themes: and Four key strategies for role models facilitating change in older men were determined: ; and .

Purpose: There are many of the representations in iconography of individuals with goiters reported in the literature.
Methods: The article describe a unique representation of goiter, as observed by the authors in a sculpture in Italy.

Sporting events for older adults are proliferating in both popularity and participation numbers, mirroring the growth that is occurring globally with an aging population. Preliminary evidence indicates that older athletes have a tendency to compare themselves (in terms of their performance, participation, and aging) to inactive older adults deemed "worse-off." Our aim was to examine the stories and experiences of older, male Masters athletes, not only in terms of their own lives and in relation to others but also in the broader context of current (neoliberal) policies that promote sport across the lifespan.

Different approaches have been developed, mostly when carcinoma has loco-regional pattern. Multimodality therapy showed a survival rate superior than 10% if compared to a single approach.

The article describes five representations of goiters, as observed by the authors in the sculptures of the Sacred Mountains of Varallo, Orta, and Varese, Italy. They are classical and appropriate examples of the iconography of "real goiter," since in these cases the sculptors had the definite aim of showing persons with goiter.

This qualitative study explored adults' experiences of development within the context of Masters sport. We interviewed 14 adults (nine men and five women) aged 46-61 years involved in Masters sport.

However, successful aging research on masters athletes has never been undertaken using a multidimensional successful aging model. To determine the best model for future successful aging research on masters athletes, we had masters swimmers (N = 169, M age = 57.

We analyzed outcomes and risk factors retrospectively in a large series of patients managed with an OA during the past 20 y in an effort to clarify this issue.
Methods: We reviewed the records of 133 patients who underwent treatment with an OA, considering factors related to patient, disease, medical management, and surgical treatment.
Background And Purpose: This study analyzed the prognostic significance of the staging system based on the metastatic Node Ratio (NR) compared with the TNM staging system in patients with colorectal cancer.
Methods: We reviewed the data of 444 patients who underwent colorectal resection for cancer between January 2005 and December 2011. NR categories NR0 (0%), NR1 (1-19%) and NR2 (≥ 20%) were determined by the best cut-off approach at log-rank test.
Purpose: Our study aims to test the prognostic accuracy of the N parameter of the 7th TNM in a Western series of D1-gastrectomies for gastric cancer (GC).
Methods: Retrospectively considering a series of 224 non-metastatic GC patients who underwent surgery with curative intent and limited lymphadenectomy, we analyzed 5-year overall survival (OS) related to pN status according to both TNM editions (pN6 and pN7) and to lymph node ratio (LNR; LNR0, 0%, LNR1, 1-19%; LNR2, > 20%). We stratified pN6- and pN7-related OS by LNR.
Background And Purpose: Primary neuroendocrine breast carcinomas (NEBC) are uncommon lesions; they constitute approximately 1% of all breast cancers and mostly affect elderly patients. According to the most recent World Health Organization classification, it concerns almost exclusively the female population between the sixth and seventh decades. The aim of this retrospective study is to analyze the clinicopathological aspects of 96 NEBC patients who had undergone surgical resection at a single institute.

Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) proved to be a reliable method for the evaluation of axillary nodal status in early-stage invasive breast cancer. The prognostic value and potential therapeutic consequences of SLN micrometastases remains a matter of great debate.

Breast-conserving therapy (BCT) followed by irradiation nowadays is the treatment of choice for early-stage disease; there is no difference in long-term survival between mastectomy and BCT combined with external radiotherapy. A positive margin is associated with increased risk of local recurrences after BCT for invasive breast cancer and ductal carcinoma in situ.
