Studies have demonstrated that up to 17% of patients with pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours (pNETs) present pathogenic germline variants (PGVs) in several different genes, irrespective of family cancer history. Li-Fraumeni syndrome (LFS) is an autosomal dominant cancer predisposition syndrome related to PGVs in the gene. A previous case of a pNET associated with LFS (c.

However, with the identification of novel susceptibility genes over the last decade, it is currently estimated that up to 40% of cases can occur in the context of a hereditary syndrome. We aimed to characterize PGL/PCC families to exemplify the different scenarios in which hereditary syndromes can be suspected and to emphasize the importance for patients and their families of making an opportune genetic diagnosis.

It is characterized by photophobia due to keratitis, painful palmoplantar hyperkeratosis, variable mental retardation, and elevated serum tyrosine levels. Patients are often misdiagnosed with herpes simplex keratitis.

GD is one of the lysosomal storage diseases with the most remarkable alterations in the immune system, and that may manifest clinically as autoimmune disorders and malignancy. We reported the immunological evaluation of a patient with GD and lupus nephritis.

The mucopolysaccharidoses (MPSs) are a group of rare, inherited lysosomal storage disorders that are clinically characterized by abnormalities in multiple organ systems and reduced life expectancy. Whereas the lysosome is essential to the functioning of the immune system, some authors suggest that the MPS patients have abnormalities in the immune system similar to the patients with primary immunodeficiency. In this study, we evaluated 8 male MPS type II patients of the same family with novel mutation in the IDS gene.

The incidence of severe toxicity from Africanized bee stings is rare but deadly. This report reveals that because of the small volume of distribution, having fewer stings does not exempt a patient from experiencing an unfavorable outcome, particularly in children, elderly people or underweight people.
