Abnormal lipid metabolism and lipid accumulation are characteristic hallmarks of renal cell carcinoma (RCC). While there is prior evidence closely linking such lipid accumulation within RCC cells and consequent tumorigenesis, the mechanisms underlying this process remain incompletely understood. In this study, a series of bioinformatics analyses were initially performed by screening RCC databases and gene sets, ultimately leading to the identification of TRIB3 as an oncogene that functions as a central regulator of lipid metabolism.

Metabolic dysfunction is seen in cancer cells where increased glycolysis provides energy for growth. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are thought to assist in glucose metabolism and the switch to glycolysis. Through screening, we found that circVAMP3 was necessary for both glycolytic and proliferative activities in renal cell carcinoma (RCC).

Pulmonary adenocarcinoma with signet ring features (PASRF) is relatively rare and often harbors anaplastic large cell kinase gene (ALK) rearrangements. As patients with ALK+ lung adenocarcinoma typically present at advanced stages, it is important to detect ALK+ PASRF at metastatic sites to ensure ALK-targeted therapy can be best applied. In this study, we report a case of PASRF with polygonal cell morphology in an 85-year-old female who had metastasized to the supraclavicular lymph node and was treated with Alectinib, a novel small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor targeting ALK.

Background: Cancer cells prefer utilizing aerobic glycolysis in order to exacerbate tumor mass and maintain un-regulated proliferative rates. As a key glycolytic activator, phosphofructo-2-kinase/fructose-2,6-bisphosphatase 3 (PFKFB3) has been implicated in multiple tumor type progression. However, the specific function and clinical significance of PFKFB3 in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) are yet not clarified.

Breast cancer is the most prevalent tumor in women worldwide and about 70% patients are estrogen receptor positive. In these cancer patients, resistance to the anticancer estrogen receptor antagonist tamoxifen emerges to be a major clinical obstacle. Peptidyl-prolyl isomerase Pin1 is prominently overexpressed in breast cancer and involves in tamoxifen-resistance.

Introduction: Prenylated Rab acceptor 1 domain family member 2 (), a novel oncogene, has been shown to be essential for the development of several human cancers; however, its role in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains unclear.

Materials And Methods: PRAF2 mRNA and protein expressions were examined in fresh tissues by quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and Western blot, respectively, and in 518 paraffin-embedded HCC samples by immunohistochemistry. The correlation of PRAF2 expression and clinical outcomes was determined by the Student's -test, Kaplan-Meier test, and multivariate Cox regression analysis.

Extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKTL) is an aggressive disease, and no standard treatment and validated prognostic model were established. Serum sIL-2Rα levels were measured in 94 ENKTL patients to evaluate its relationship with clinical features, treatment response, and prognosis. Serum sIL-2Rα level was 2964 ± 1613.

Delta-like ligand 4 (DLL4), one of the transmembranous Notch ligands, is upregulated at the site of tumor growth, particularly during tumor angiogenesis. Expression pattern of DLL4 in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) and the clinical and prognostic significance remain unclear. In this study, immunohistochemical analysis (IHC) was used to examine the protein level of DLL4 in NPC tissues from two independent cohorts.

Background: The secretory small GTPase Rab27b was recently identified as an oncogene in breast cancer (BC) in vivo and in vitro studies. This research was designed to further explore the clinical and prognostic significance of Rab27B in BC patients.

Methods: The mRNA/protein expression level of Rab27B was examined by performing Real-time PCR, western blot, and immunohistochemistry (IHC) assays in 12 paired BC tissues and matched adjacent noncancerous tissues (NAT).

This study was aimed to investigate the potential role of microRNA-29c (miR-29c) in regulating the sensitivities of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) to ionizing radiation (IR) and cisplatin. Low expression of miR-29c was positively associated with therapeutic resistance in 159 NPC cases. Our further in vitro and in vivo studies illustrated ectopic restoration of miR-29c substantially enhanced the sensitivity of NPC cells to IR and cisplatin treatment by promoting apoptosis.

Background: Spleen tyrosine kinase (Syk) is a nonreceptor tyrosine kinase and often aberrantly expressed in human cancers. However, Syk expression pattern has not yet been investigated in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).

Methods: Samples of 223 NPC tissues were immunohistochemically stained for Syk expression and survival analysis was then performed.

Purpose: Currently, nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) prognosis evaluation is based primarily on the TNM staging system. This study aims to identify prognostic markers for NPC.

Patients And Methods: We detected expression of 18 biomarkers by immunohistochemistry in NPC tumors from 209 patients and evaluated the association between gene expression level and disease-specific survival (DSS).

The microRNA miR-125b is dysregulated in various human cancers but its underlying mechanisms of action are poorly understood. Here, we report that miR-125b is downregulated in invasive breast cancers where it predicts poor patient survival. Hypermethylation of the miR-125b promoter partially accounted for reduction of miR-125b expression in human breast cancer.
