Purpose: To investigate the clinical features of simple hemorrhage (SH) and myopic choroidal neovascularization (mCNV) lesions in pathologic myopia (PM) accompanied with lacquer cracks (LCs).
Methods: Altogether 105 PM subjects were recruited with fifty-eight eyes categorized as group LC + SH and sixty eyes as group LC + mCNV. LCs were categorized into stellate and linear subtypes.
Aim: To evaluate the therapeutic effect of combined phacovitrectomy with membrane peeling and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation in patients with severe idiopathic epiretinal membrane (iERM) and concurrent cataract.
Methods: A total of 34 eyes from 34 patients who underwent phacovitrectomy and epiretinal membrane (ERM) peeling at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University between 2015 and 2017. The best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and central foveal thickness (CFT) were measured preoperatively and at 1, 3, 6mo and 1y postoperatively.
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are endogenously expressed, non-coding, small RNAs which inhibit protein translation through binding to target mRNAs. Recent studies have demonstrated that miRNAs participate in the regulation of a variety of cell structures and functions including those for cell proliferation and migration. MicroRNA-34a (miR-34a), a potential effector of the p53 tumor suppressor gene, is extensively studied for its suppression of cell growth.

We also investigated the impact of SO emulsification on the expression of apoptotic factors.
Material/methods: Anterior capsulotomy specimens of 20 eyes in 20 patients with cataract secondary to SO tamponade (Group 2), were collected.
This study aims to investigate intravitreal injection of Ranibizumab on the surgical outcome for diabetic patients who had tractional retinal detachment but did not receive any preoperative retinal photocoagulation.Ninety-seven patients (97 eyes) who had diabetic retinopathy with tractional retinal detachment were enrolled to receive 23-G pars plana vitrectomy (PPV). They were assigned to an experimental group (Group I, n = 47 eyes) and a control group (Group II, n = 50 eyes).

Methods: All children younger than 16 years with unilateral traumatic cataract following penetrating trauma between 2007 and 2012 were retrospectively reviewed. Univariate chi-square analysis was conducted to identify the variables associated with profound visual loss.
Background: The objective of this study is to provide a systematic review on ocular injuries induced by glass bottles containing carbonated drinks in China, which emphasised the injury circumstance and visual function loss.
Methods: We performed a literature-based retrospective analysis using predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Demographic characteristics of pressurised bottled drinks-related eye injuries were obtained and vision loss was calculated.
Purpose: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are endogenously expressed, small noncoding RNAs that inhibit gene expression by binding to target mRNAs. Recent studies have revealed that miRNAs function as tumor suppressors or oncogenes. In the present study, we investigated the role of miRNA-34b/c in uveal melanoma.

Methods: Two Chinese families with autosomal dominant coralliform cataract, 12 affected and 14 unaffected individuals, were recruited. Fifteen known genes associated with autosomal dominant congenital cataract were screened by two-point linkage analysis with gene based single nucleotide polymorphisms and microsatellite markers.
Objective: This study compares the visual performance of spherical and aspherical intraocular lenses (IOLs) by measuring higher-order aberration and contrast sensitivity (CS) values.
Design: Prospective controlled study.
Participants: Fifty-seven patients with age-related cataract (61 eyes).

Objective: To investigate corneal refractive changes after scleral buckling surgery.
Methods: In a prospective self-controlled clinical study, we investigated the changes of refractive power, astigmatic power, astigmatic axis, and irregular astigmatic power of anterior corneal surface following scleral buckling surgery for retinal detachment in 30 patients (30 eyes). The corneal shapes were detected by Orbscan II topography at 1 day before surgery, and 1 week, 1 month, and 3 months after surgery.

Objectives: To evaluate the technical feasibility, safety, outcome, and incidence of complications after combined clear corneal phacoemulsification (PEA) with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation and vitreoretinal surgery.
Methods: Combined operations of PEA and PPV were performed on 52 eyes of 52 patients with cataract and vitreoretinal diseases.
Results: The mean follow-up time was (10.
To evaluate the phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation in patients with sensory exotropia subsequent to senile cataract. The authors prospectively studied the role of phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation on 25 patients by observing visual acuity, ocular alignment, binocular vision and diplopia pre-, 1 month post- and 3 months post-operation. The patients underwent follow-up for three months.

Objective: To assess the efficacy of denaturing high-performance liquid chromatography (DHPLC) as a new screening assay for sequence variation in SNP detecting and new approach to SNP genotyping.
Methods: DHPLC was used to screen SNPs in 8 DNA pools each consisting of DNA from 5 individuals, and genotype the identified SNPs in 150 Chinese subjects from Hong Kong.
Results: Seventeen SNPs were identified: 12 were novel and 5 were previously reported; 11 were found in screening stage and the other 6 were found in genotyping stage; 2 were only found in Caucasian samples; 3 showed ethnic difference of minor allele frequency(MAF); 7 were common with the MAF>0.

Objective: To determine the intraoperative and postoperative complications and best-corrected visual acuity outcomes of eyes undergoing phacoemulsification and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation after retinal detachment repair by scleral buckling technique.
Methods: The charts of all patients who underwent phacoemulsification and IOL implantation between May 1996 and July 2000 in Zheyi Eye Center were reviewed to identify the eyes with a history of retinal detachment repaired by scleral buckling technique.
Results: We identified 33 eyes of 33 patients.

Objective: To determine the visual outcome and incidence of complications after posterior capsule rupture during phacoemulsification.
Methods: Sixty-six eyes of 66 patients which sustained posterior capsule rupture were retrospectively studied.
Result: Fifty-two out of 66 eyes had best corrected visual acuity of 20/40 or better.
