Article Synopsis
  • - The gut microbiota acts like a vital organ for human health and consists of core microbes that maintain stable relationships, crucial for understanding their role in various diseases.
  • - By analyzing data from dietary interventions and various diseases, researchers identified patterns of correlated bacterial genomes, creating a model of "two competing guilds": one group that thrives on fiber and produces beneficial compounds and another that is associated with disease traits like antibiotic resistance.
  • - Using advanced modeling techniques, the study successfully differentiated between healthy and affected individuals based on these gut microbiome signatures, suggesting potential applications for improving health and tailoring treatments such as immunotherapy.

Background: Recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA) is a challenging condition that affects the health of women both physically and mentally, but its pathogenesis and treatment have yet to be studied in detail. In recent years, Wharton's jelly-derived mesenchymal stem cells (WJ-MSCs) have been shown to be effective in treating various diseases. Current understanding of RSA treatment using WJ-MSCs is limited, and the exact mechanisms of WJ-MSCs action in RSA remains largely unclear.

During our previous bilateral adrenal vein sampling (AVS) procedure, the authors observed that accessing the left adrenal vein through the antecubital vein was more feasible than the conventional femoral vein. Meanwhile, the femoral vein pathway facilitated access to the right adrenal vein than the antecubital vein pathway. Therefore, the authors hypothesized that simultaneous bilateral AVS via the antecubital combined with the femoral vein pathway could improve the success rate.

Aim: Spontaneous abortion (SA) is a multiple-original syndrome with immune imbalance as one of its major risk factors. As Wharton's jelly-mesenchymal stem cells (WJ-MSCs) are considered to be able to prevent abortion, this study aims to explore the currently poorly understood underlining molecular signaling pathways and regulatory mechanisms of WJ-MSCs in pregnancy maintenance.

Methods: Abortion mode is established by subcutaneous injection of bromocriptine in rat on day 9 and abortion prevention is achieved by WJ-MSCs injection via tail vein.

Background: Schizonepetae Herba (SH, Jingjie) and Schizonepetae Herba Carbonisata (SHC, Jingjie Tan) are two different forms of the same herbal material, with SHC being the processed product of SH. The different clinical efficacies of SH and SHC may be caused by changes in their chemical compositions. Despite this, there have been few studies that have reported on the comparative identification of SH and SHC.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how changes in gut microbiota are linked to abnormal blood sugar metabolism by stratifying 258 participants into three distinct clusters based on clinical parameters like blood glucose, insulin, and lipid levels.
  • Each cluster showed unique microbiome features, with specific bacterial associations indicating varying health conditions: Cluster 1 had low glucose and high insulin sensitivity; Cluster 2 had moderate glucose but significant insulin resistance; and Cluster 3 faced high glucose and insulin deficiency.
  • Utilizing machine learning, the researchers identified 67 specific bacterial traits that could distinguish between these clusters, suggesting that a broader clinical approach could enhance understanding of gut microbiota's role in diabetes progression.
