Background: Posterior spinal fusion (PSF) surgery for correction of idiopathic scoliosis is associated with chronic postsurgical pain (CPSP). In this multicenter study, we describe perioperative multimodal analgesic (MMA) management and characterize postoperative pain, disability, and quality of life over 12 months after PSF in adolescents and young adults.
Methods: Subjects (8-25 years) undergoing PSF were recruited at 6 sites in the United States between 2016 and 2023.

Background: Total serum immunoglobulin E (TsIgE) has not been examined in children with food allergy.
Objective: Evaluate associations of TsIgE with patient, household, environmental and community-level characteristics among children with food allergy.
Method: Linear mixed effect models of data from 398 Black and/or African American (B/AA) and White and/or European American (W/EA) children with allergist-diagnosed food allergy from the multi-center, observational cohort FORWARD; TsIgE in kU/L was the primary outcome measure.
Objective: To examine the prevalence and influencing factors of panic buying of emergency supplies among the public during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic and provide a reference for public responses.
Methods: Using a self-designed questionnaire on panic buying during COVID-19, we conducted an online voluntary anonymous survey among adult internet users (≥ 18 years) in China from June to July 2022. Descriptive analysis, χ test and logistic regression analysis were used to explore the influencing factors of public panic buying.

Background: Exploration of whether circRNAs in the skin of systemic sclerosis (SSc) model mice interact with 4E-BP1 protein to mediate the mTOR signaling pathway to regulate SSc fibrosis is crucial to identify homologous human circRNAs as markers to guide the diagnosis and treatment of SSc.
Methods: C57BL/6 mice aged 6-8 weeks and weighing approximately 20 g were subcutaneously injected with bleomycin (BLM) to establish an SSc model. High-throughput sequencing was used to screen the differentially expressed circRNA in the skin of SSc model mice and control mice.
Background: Bile acids, synthesized endogenously from cholesterol, play a central role in metabolic regulation within the enterohepatic circulatory system. Traditionally known as emulsifying agents that facilitate the intestinal absorption of vitamins and lipids, recent research reveals their function as multifaceted signal modulators involved in various physiological processes. These molecules are now recognized as key regulators of chronic metabolic diseases and immune dysfunction.

Fermentation serves as a crucial technique for preserving perishable fish in developing countries. This study aimed to examine the dynamic changes in the gel properties, physicochemical properties, microbial diversity, and volatile flavor compounds (VFCs) of Spanish mackerel sausages inoculated with CY1-2 during fermentation.

Background: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common inflammatory skin condition with complex origins. Current treatments often yield suboptimal results due to an incomplete understanding of its underlying mechanisms. This study aimed to identify pathway and gene signatures that distinguish between lesional AD, non-lesional AD, and healthy skin.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of preoperative ONS on postoperative clinical outcomes in patients with gastrointestinal cancer.
Methods: We searched PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Scopus, and the Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure databases for randomized controlled trials evaluating preoperative ONS in patients undergoing surgery for gastrointestinal cancer from inception until April 2024.
Study Objective: To determine if baseline cytokines/chemokines and their changes over postoperative days 0-2 (POD0-2) predict acute and chronic postsurgical pain (CPSP) after major surgery.
Design: Prospective, observational, longitudinal nested study.
Setting: University-affiliated quaternary children's hospital.
Background: Shengmai San Formula (SMS) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) that has been used to treat wasting-thirst regarded as diabetes mellitus, which occurs disproportionately in obese patients. Therefore, we investigated whether SMS could be used to treat obesity, and explored possible mechanisms by which it might improve glucose and fat metabolism.
Methods: To investigate the effects of SMS on a high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity (DIO) model, we studied glucose metabolism via glucose tolerance testing (GTT) and insulin tolerance testing (ITT).
As one of rare high-value ocotillol (OCT)-type ginsenosides, pseudoginsenoside Rt5 has been identified with significant pharmacological activities. UDP-glycosyltransferases (UGTs) play pivotal roles in catalyzing the transfer of a glycosyl moiety from a donor to an acceptor. In this study, the novel UGT, PjUGT10, was screened from the transcriptome database of Panax japonicus and identified with the enzymatic activity of transferring a glucosyl group on OCT to produce Rt5.

However, it has been rarely documented that genes participate in spirodiclofen resistance in . In previous research, we found that spirodiclofen resistance is related to increased P450 and CCE enzyme activities in .

The pathogenesis of SSc pulmonary fibrosis is complex and prognosis is poor. In order to find biomarkers to provide assistance in the diagnosis and treatment of systemic sclerosis (SSc), this study explored the role of SSc-related differentially expressed circRNAs in the fibrosis process. This study explored whether circular RNA (circRNA) mediated the mTOR signaling pathway by interacting with the eukaryotic translation initiation factor eIF4E-binding protein 1 (4E-BP1), participated in a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network, and regulated the mechanism of pulmonary fibrosis in systemic sclerosis (SSc).

Objective: We sought to examine racial differences in ED visitation among children with allergic comorbidities.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective study of patients (<21 years) who visited the ED at a large pediatric hospital for atopic dermatitis (AD), food allergy (FA), asthma, allergic rhinitis (AR), and eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) from 2015 to 2019.
Background: Evaluate the possibility of retromolar intubation for general anesthesia in patients with maxillofacial fractures.
Methods: The medical records of 54 patients with maxillofacial fractures who visited the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department of Nantong First People's Hospital from January 2020 to August 2022 were collected. The retromolar areas of each patient were measured from the coronal CT images, and correlated with the patient's age, sex, type of fracture (i.
Selection of chemical-resistant predatory mites is a good alternative to balance the contradiction between chemical control and biological control. Previously, a resistant strain of Neoseiulus barkeri for chlorpyrifos was obtained. In the current study, two up-regulated (NbCYP3A6, NbCYP3A16) and one down-regulated (NbCYP3A24) P450s were screened through differential expression analysis and other detoxification-related genes such as CCEs, GST, etc.

In this study, we investigate the relationship between the structure of gut bacterial symbionts and insecticide susceptibility in , the important carrier of Liberibacter asiaticus (Las), the causal agent of Huanglongbing (HLB). Our results indicated that antibiotic treatment significantly increased the susceptibility of to bifenthrin and thiamethoxam, and significantly decreased the relative abundance of and Profftella, enzyme activities of CarEs, and expression level of multiple CarE genes.
