Diffuse xanthoma in early esophageal cancer: A case report.

Background: Gastrointestinal xanthomas are asymptomatic and infrequent non-neoplastic lesions that commonly occur in the stomach with -associated gastritis and rarely in the esophagus. To date, there have been no reports of esophageal xanthoma combined with esophageal cancer. Herein, we present the first case in the literature of a diffuse xanthoma complicated with early esophageal cancer.

During nitrification, the varieties of microbial structures, metabolic pathways and functional profiles in four parallel laboratory-scale sequencing batch reactors (SBRs) with 0.5, 5, 10 and 15 mg/L of free ammonia (FA) concentrations were analyzed by high-throughput sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene. Amorphous Fe(OH) Passivating CeO Nanorods: A Noble-Metal-Free Photocatalyst for Water Oxidation.

Noble-metal-free composites with good photocatalytic property are of great interest. Here, CeO nanorods composites loaded with amorphous Fe(OH) cocatalyst were designed and prepared via a secondary water bath at 100 °C. The as-synthesized CeO /amorphous Fe(OH) composites exhibited superior light photocatalytic activities compared to pure CeO , especially the sample with a loading time of 60 min.

Possible posttraumatic stress disorder in Chinese frontline healthcare workers who survived COVID-19 6 months after the COVID-19 outbreak: prevalence, correlates, and symptoms.

Suffering from COVID-19 and witnessing the suffering and deaths of patients with COVID-19 may place frontline healthcare workers (HCWs) at particularly high risk for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD); however, few data are available on the clinical characteristics of PTSD among frontline HCWs who survived COVID-19 ("surviving HCWs" hereafter). The present study examined the prevalence, correlates, and clinical symptoms of possible PTSD in surviving HCWs 6 months after the COVID-19 outbreak in China. A total of 291 surviving HCWs and 42 age- and gender-matched COVID-19-free frontline HCWs (control group) were recruited and administered the Chinese Essen Trauma Inventory, which was used to assess the presence of possible PTSD according to DSM-IV-TR criteria.

The widespread occurrence of tire particles (TPs) in soils has attracted considerable attention due to their potential threats. The assemblage of bacteria and associated antibiotic resistant genes (ARGs) on TPs is yet largely unknown, especially under the stress of soil pollutants. In the present study, TPs were incubated in soils with or without the stress of heavy metal (Cu) or/and antibiotic (tetracycline), and bacterial community and ARG profile on TPs and in soils were explored using high-throughput sequencing and high-throughput quantitative PCR.

The accurate identification of irreversible infarction and salvageable tissue is important in planning the treatments for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients. Computed tomographic perfusion (CTP) can be used to evaluate the ischemic core and deficit, covering most of the territories of anterior circulation, but many community hospitals and primary stroke centers do not have the capability to perform CTP scan in emergency situation. This study aimed to identify AIS lesions from widely available non-contrast computed tomography (NCCT) and CT angiography (CTA) using deep learning.

A survey on doctors' cognition of depression in patients with epilepsy.

Objective: This survey aimed to assess doctors' cognition on depressive symptoms in patients with epilepsy in Shanghai China.

Methods: Questionnaires were handed out to doctors who have taken part in the epilepsy care, covering those from all third-grade hospitals and several second-grade hospitals in Shanghai China. Respondents were asked to make choices for their demographic profiles, clinical practices, acquired knowledge of, and attitudes toward the comorbidity of epilepsy and depression.

Shortcomings of individual biochar or microbial technologies often exist in heavy metal removal from wastewater and may be circumvented by coupled use of biochar and microorganisms. This study examined the blocking and phytotoxic effects of fullerene nanoparticles (nC) on plants at the cellular level.
