In the seawater-sediment simulated immersion system, nitrate affected microbial corrosion of steel. The research studied the corrosion processes of Q235 steel influenced by nitrate exposure from aspects such as mineral evolution, environmental microbial cultivation, and interfacial electrochemistry. Nitrate pollution affected the corrosion acceleration (0.

The combination of sonodynamic therapy (SDT) with chemotherapy has emerged as a novel strategy for cancer treatment, aiming to improve therapeutic outcomes and reduce systemic toxicity. However, challenges such as elevated drug clearance rates and non-selecitivity remain to be resolved.

Cellulose nanocrystal (CN) exhibits significant potential for composite reinforcement. Herein, CN was surface-modified via α,ω-bis(3-(2-hydroxyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxane (HTPDMS), resulting in dihydroxyl-terminated poly(dimethylsiloxane)-grafted CN (HP-g-CN).

The female adults of some ant lineages display phenotypic plasticity related to reproductive role. In pharaoh ant queens, insemination induces substantial physiological/behavioral changes and implicates remarkable gene regulatory network (GRN) shift in the brain.

Regular monitoring for microbial contamination in these fuel systems is essential for mitigating MIC risks. However, the frequency of monitoring remains a challenge due to the complex environmental conditions encountered in fuel systems.

Metal materials undergo severe corrosion in eutrophic environments. The effect of DO decay stimulated by high concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus pollutants on microorganisms leads to the coupling of electrochemical and microbial corrosion processes. However, there are few studies on microbial corrosion mechanisms in eutrophic environments.

Using the molecular metadynamics method, the adsorption of the structure of 1-hydroxyethane-1,1-diphosphonic acid (HEDP) on the FeO surface and subsequent detachment of Fe atoms from the surface were simulated, and the dissolution mechanism by which HEDP dissolves FeO scale at room temperature while other organic acids cannot was elucidated. The adsorbed hydroxyl groups, water and HEDP on the FeO surface play a synergistic role in detaching the Fe ions, which increases the coordination number of the Fe atoms and weakens the original Fe-O bond strength. In addition, the strong coordination ability and flexible molecular structure of HEDP also facilitate dissolution of FeO scale by breaking down the chemical bonds and forming Fe-HEDP complexes.

Microorganisms with aerobic oil pollution remediation capabilities may catalyze more serious anaerobic microbial corrosion due to the carbon source supply. In this study, Acinetobacter soli strains were isolated from oil-contaminated environments, and their role in the deterioration corrosion behavior of X70 steel in an oil-water environment was investigated using the EDS multipoint scanning method.

We used routine screening data to determine the prevalence of HCV antibody in hospital patients, evaluate the epidemic trend of hepatitis C and formulate screening strategies.
Methods: Patient information and HCV antibody testing results were collected from January 2017 to December 2019 in 77 HCV sentinel hospitals in China.
In this study, the impact of Co-γ ray irradiation treatment on the content of active chemicals and their functions in Citri Sarcodactylis Fructus (CSF) was assessed. Scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and γ-ray diffraction revealed physical structure changes in CSF powder. According to the findings, the content of total flavonoids in the ethanol extract of CSF increased by 9.

This paper innovatively proposes an ice boundary constraint (IBC) method to actively suppress exit burrs to obtain better workpiece edge quality. Firstly, the formation mechanism of the exits burr is analyzed from the perspective of material flow at the edge of the workpiece, and the principle of the IBC method is explained.

The Hox gene Abdominal-B (Abd-B) is mainly expressed in the posterior segments of the abdomen and plays an important role in insect organogenesis. In Mecoptera, the potential function of this gene remains unclear yet.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAnts are highly diverse social insects living in colonies consisted of up to millions of individuals with reproductive division of labors. Due to the interests in disclosing the genetic and epigenetic regulation mechanisms underlying the distinct developmental trajectories between castes and division of labor in colonies, many ant species have recently been established as laboratory models for evolutionary development and social behavior studies. These functional studies often request a precise quantification of the relative gene expression level, which relies on a stably expressed reference genes for normalization.

The morphology and structure of the Co-CQDs were characterized through transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction spectra, Fourier transform infrared, and X-ray photoelectron spectra. The Co-CQDs emitted intense blue luminescence under ultraviolet irradiation and exhibited a typical excitation-dependent emission property.

In pathological conditions, mitochondrial stress leads to neuronal death, which is regulated by the anti-apoptotic BCL-2 family of proteins. MCL-1 is an anti-apoptotic BCL-2 protein localized to mitochondria either in the outer membrane (OM) or inner membrane (Matrix), which have distinct roles in inhibiting apoptosis and promoting bioenergetics, respectively.
