Background: To explore the therapeutic effects and mechanisms of the exosomes derived from dental follicle stem cells (DFSC-Exos) in reducing osteoclastogenesis and root resorption (RR) by inhibiting periodontal ligament cell (PDLC) pyroptosis.

Methods: DFSC-Exos, with force stimulation (Force-Exos) or without (Ctrl-Exos), were co-cultured with human PDLCs in vitro and injected into the periodontal ligament (PDL) of rats following the establishment of RR models in vivo. Subsequently, resorption volume, PDLC pyroptotic ratio, and NLRP3-mediated pyroptosis pathway activation were performed to investigate the therapeutic effects of DFSC-Exos on PDLC pyroptosis during RR.

Hyperactivation of osteoclasts has been identified as a significant etiological factor in several bone resorption-related disorders, including osteoporosis, periodontitis, arthritis, and bone metastasis of tumors. It has been demonstrated that the severity of these diseases is influenced by lipids that regulate osteoclast differentiation and activity through specific signaling pathways and cytokine levels. The regulatory mechanisms of different types of lipids on osteoclastogenesis vary across diverse disease contexts in bone resorption regulated by osteoclasts.

Article Synopsis
  • - Various types of artificial water channels have been developed, but creating 1D water channels from small molecules is challenging due to the difficulty in manipulating water molecules.
  • - This study builds on previous research by modifying a nucleoside, 2-amino-2'-fluoro-2'-deoxyadenosine (2FA), to enhance its hydration and self-assembly properties.
  • - One derivative, 2-amino-8-(4-aminophenyl)-2'-deoxy-2'-fluoro-D-adenosine, can form an S-shaped channel in the solid state that incorporates arrays of water wires, offering new possibilities for nucleoside-based water channel materials.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines how the area of the bracket base removed (RBA) affects the accuracy of digital surface reconstruction during virtual bracket removal (VBR) for orthodontic retainers.
  • Researchers tested 196 teeth, comparing surface deviations (RMS values) of reconstructed teeth to original ones, revealing that increased RBA leads to higher RMS values, especially in molars.
  • The findings suggest that maintaining the RBA below 80% of the maximal base area ensures adequate accuracy for effective retainer fabrication.

Diabetic wound healing is a formidable challenge, often complicated by biofilms, immune dysregulation, and hindered vascularization within the wound environments. The intricate interplay of these microenvironmental factors has been a significant oversight in the evolution of therapeutic strategies. Herein, the design of an efficient and versatile oxygen-bonded amorphous transition metal dichalcogenide biocatalyst (aRuS-O) with pH-responsive reactive oxygen biocatalysis for combined antibacterial and anti-inflammatory therapies in promoting diabetic wound healing is reported.

Background: This prospective study aims to investigate the comparative effects of clear aligners (CA) and traditional removable appliances (RA) on the cariogenic risk of patients in mixed dentition, focusing on the oral microbiome.

Methods: 25 children were included and assigned into CA and RA groups. Supragingival plaque and saliva samples were collected, and clinical parameters including Decay-missing-filled teeth index (DMFT), Plaque Index (PI) and Gorelick Index (GI) were recorded before treatment (T) and after 6-month follow-up (T).

Article Synopsis
  • This research examined the accuracy of using guided bonding devices (GBDs) for bracket placement on crowded teeth in a lab setting.
  • Fifteen 3D-printed resin models with varying levels of crowding (mild, moderate, severe) were used to test the bonding process, measuring any deviations from the planned positions after bonding.
  • Results showed that GBDs achieved high accuracy in bracket placement with minimal deviations, suggesting their potential for use in both crowded and uncrowded dental situations.

Objectives: To establish a reference system for assessing the anteroposterior (A-P) position of the subnasal and lower-facial soft tissues for whole facial harmony.

Materials And Methods: Forty Asian and 40 Caucasian females with attractive profiles were selected as the "attractive" samples, with "ordinary" samples for comparison. Each profile was analyzed, and comparisons were made to reveal the interracial commonalities and differences.

miRNA has emerged as a crucial regulator in various of pathological and physiological processes, yet its precise mechanism of action the detailed mechanism of their action in Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) remains incompletely understood. This study sheds light on the role of mi-151-5p, revealing its significantly elevated expression in tumor cells, which notably enhances the invasion and migration of HNSCC cells. This effect is achieved through directly targeting LY6/PLAUR Domain Containing 3 (LYPD3) by miR-151-5p, involving complementary binding to the 3'-untranslated regions (3'-UTR) in the mRNA of LYPD3.

Pathogenic infection leads to excessive senescent cell accumulation and stagnation of wound healing. To address these issues, we devise and develop a hydrogen selenide (HSe)-evolving bio-heterojunction (bio-HJ) composed of graphene oxide (GO) and FeSe to deracinate bacterial infection, suppress cellular senescence and remedy recalcitrant infected wounds. Excited by near-infrared (NIR) laser, the bio-HJ exerts desired photothermal and photodynamic effects, resulting in rapid disinfection.

Objectives: This study aimed to propose a standardized protocol for the fabrication of three-dimensionally (3D)-printed curvature-adaptive splints (CASs) and assess the precision of CASs on dentitions with different depths of the curve of Spee (COS).

Methods: 76 lower dental resin models, each exhibiting one of the four types of COS (0-, 2-, 4-, and 6-mm deep), were selected and digitally scanned. CASs were designed, 3D printed, and grouped into C0, C2, C4, and C6, corresponding to the four types of COS depths.

Transfer RNAs (tRNAs) can regulate cell behavior and are associated with neurological disorders. Here, we aimed to investigate the expression levels of tRNAs in oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs) and their possible roles in the regulation of brain white matter injury (WMI). Newborn Sprague-Dawley rats (postnatal day 5) were used to establish a model that mimicked neonatal brain WMI.

In infectious ischemic wounds, a lack of blood perfusion significantly worsens microbe-associated infection symptoms and frequently complicates healing. To overcome this daunting issue, antibacterial and angiogenic (2A) bio-heterojunctions (bio-HJs) consisting of CuS/MXene heterojunctions and a vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-mimicking peptide (VMP) are devised and developed to accelerate infectious cutaneous regeneration by boosting angiogenesis via an endogenous-exogenous bistimulatory (EEB) strategy. Assisted by near-infrared irradiation, the bio-HJ platform exhibits versatile synergistic photothermal, photodynamic, and chemodynamic effects for robust antibacterial efficacy.

Nanomaterial-mediated ferroptosis has garnered considerable interest in the antibacterial field, as it invokes the disequilibrium of ion homeostasis and boosts lipid peroxidation in extra- and intracellular bacteria. However, current ferroptosis-associated antibacterial strategies indiscriminately pose damage to healthy cells, ultimately compromising their biocompatibility. To address this daunting issue, this work has designed a precise ferroptosis bio-heterojunction (F-bio-HJ) consisting of Fe O , Ti C -MXene, and glucose oxidase (GOx) to induce extra-intracellular bacteria-targeted ferroptosis for infected diabetic cutaneous regeneration.
