Context: Spinal block is the first choice for lower abdominal surgeries. Bupivacaine is the most common local anesthetic used but has a shorter duration of action. Many adjuvants have been used to improve the quality of analgesia till postoperative period.

Context: Positioning fracture femur cases for sub arachnoid block (SAB) is challenging. Fascia iliaca compartment block (FICB) is low skilled, helps positioning, and provides analgesia. Dexmedetomidine as an adjuvant prolongs analgesia.

Attenuation of haemodynamic responses to laryngoscopy and endotracheal intubation with intravenous dexmedetomidine: A comparison between two doses.

Background And Aims: Laryngoscopic manipulation and endotracheal intubation are noxious stimuli capable of producing tachycardia, arrhythmias and hypertension. The aim of this study was to arrive at an optimal dose of dexmedetomidine by comparing two doses with placebo to attenuate stress response during laryngoscopy and endotracheal intubation.

Methods: It was a randomised, prospective, double-blind placebo-controlled study.

Leiomyomas are benign tumors arising from smooth muscle of the uterus. Intravenous leiomyomatosis is characterized by intraluminal growth of benign smooth muscle into either venous or lymphatic vessels outside the limits of myoma. It commonly extends into the pelvic veins and manifests as worm-like protrusions of tumor emanating from veins at the parametrial margins of hysterectomy specimen.
