Andrographolide (Andro), the major constituent of , is was known to reduces inflammatory reaction. In the current study, the ability of Andro to reduce pain sensation in a rat post-operative wound model was explored. The hind paws of 18 Sprague-Dawley rats (SD) bearing post-operative wounds received the following three treatments: Saline, Andro via direct injection into the paw (Andro-injected) and Tablet containing Andro + poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) (Andro-tablet).

Investigations were carried out to study the effects of light-emitting diode (LED) lights on growth and development of isosteroidal alkaloids in embryogenic calli of D. Don, an important traditional Chinese medicine herb. Calli were cultured in glass bottles, each containing 100 mL of Murashige and Skoog's basal medium supplemented with 2% sucrose and 0.

Background: Fritillaria cirrhosa, an important Chinese medicinal herb, is a Class-III protected and highly exploited species by pharmaceutical industry. Dwindling wild populations of species are unable to meet market demand. Therefore, this study was carried out to develop an in vitro propagation method for bulblet production.

In the present study, Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) decorated with two different nanoparticles namely tungsten disulfide (WS) and tin oxide (SnO), nanocomposites (NCs) were synthesized via hydrothermal method. Spectroscopic studies showed that both synthesized NCs possess nearly same functional groups but MWCNT-SnO NCs are rich in O-functional group. Microscopic studies revealed that both NCs have different morphological microstructure.

In this communication, fenugreek β-amylase was immobilized onto functionalized tungsten disulfide nanoparticles through cross-linker glutaraldehyde and successful immobilization was confirmed by SEM, AFM and FTIR spectroscopy. To make the process economical and efficient, optimization of independent variables was carried out using Box-Behnken design of response surface methodology. Approximately similar predicted (85.

Multiwalled carbon nanotubes molybdenum disulfide 3D nanocomposite (MWCNT-MoS NC) was successfully synthesized via eco-friendly hydrothermal method. The microstructural characterization of synthesized nanocomposite was carried out using different spectroscopic and microscopic techniques. Nanocomposite was activated using glutaraldehyde chemistry and used as a platform to immobilize Lens culinaris β-galactosidase (Lsbgal) which resulted in 93% of immobilization efficiency.

Article Synopsis
  • Andrographolide (Andro), an anti-inflammatory compound from Andrographis paniculata, was tested for its effectiveness in reducing pain sensitivity (allodynia) in a nerve injury model using male BalbC mice.
  • Mice were divided into four groups: a control group, a saline group, an Andro treatment group, and a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) group, with pain responses measured after treatment.
  • Results showed that Andro significantly reduced pain sensitivity compared to both the saline and NSAIDS groups, correlating with lower levels of inflammatory cytokines in the spinal cord, indicating its potential for improved pain management.

Cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase is a broad substrate specificity enzyme catalyzing the final step in monolignol biosynthesis, leading to lignin formation in plants. Here, we report characterization of a recombinant CAD homologue (LlCAD2) isolated from Leucaena leucocephala. LlCAD2 is 80 kDa homo-dimer associated with non-covalent interactions, having substrate preference toward sinapaldehyde with Kcat/Km of 11.

This study describes the development of an efficient and reliable activation tagging system for the medicinal fungus Antrodia cinnamomea. For successful Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation, different parameters were considered. The Agrobacterium concentration of 5 x 10(8) cfu ml(-1), 1mm acetosyringone, 25-d-old mycelia at 0.

The study of functional genomics has paved the way for directed approaches to the generation of genetically modified plants that produce novel and/or improved yields of pharmaceuticals. In the present study, an activation tagging mutagenesis (ATM) population of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge, a medicinal plant, was established by Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. The optimum conditions for Agrobacterium transformation were determined by the expression of green fluorescent protein.
