Article Synopsis
  • A new technique for detecting metformin using carbon dots (CDs) was developed, leveraging their fluorescence enhancement when exposed to the drug.
  • The CDs, made from avocado peels through microwave synthesis, showed strong fluorescence and high sensitivity for measuring metformin concentrations between 0.5-25 μg/mL, with detection and quantification limits of 0.087 μg/mL and 0.263 μg/mL, respectively.
  • The method is highly selective for metformin, can distinguish it from other drugs, and has been evaluated for its environmental impact compared to traditional methods using analytical greenness tools.

Article Synopsis
  • A new, eco-friendly spectrofluorometric method has been developed to measure vonoprazan fumarate in bulk and pharmaceutical products by using sodium salicylate's fluorescence quenching.
  • * This method shows a linear response for vonoprazan fumarate concentrations between 50.0 and 3000.0 ng/mL, with detection and quantification limits of 10.97 ng/mL and 33.23 ng/mL, respectively.
  • * Unlike older methods that used toxic chemicals and high energy, this approach is more sustainable, using only water and safe reagents, aligning with green chemistry principles while improving analytical efficiency.

Polymorphisms in the 3' untranslated region of STAT3 mRNA can derange STAT3 gene expression via modifying the microRNA-binding site. This study aimed to examine the impact of STAT3 rs1053005 variation and miR-452-3p expression on osteoarthritis (OA) susceptibility and severity and the efficacy of intra-articular high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid (HMW-HA) injection as a therapy option for knee OA. Two hundred and fifty-eight OA patients and 200 healthy controls were enrolled in the study.

Recently, mirabegron has been added to tamsulosin to treat overactive bladder in men with benign prostatic hypertrophy. A Rapid, selective, sensitive, and green high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) approach was developed for the simultaneous determination of tamsulosin (TAM) and mirabegron (MIR) in pure and laboratory-prepared mixture. Complete separation was obtained on silica gel F using the solvent system methanol-ethyl acetate-ammonia (3:7:0.

Objective: To investigate the combined effect of extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) and integrated neuromuscular inhibition (INI) on myofascial trigger points in the upper trapezius.

Methods: Sixty subjects aged 18-24 years old with active myofascial trigger points in the upper trapezius were studied. Participants were assigned randomly to either group A who received ESWT one session/week, group B who received INI three sessions/week, or group C who received ESWT in addition to INI.
