A survey is made on physiology of lipid metabolism and its variations during pregnancy. The mechanisms leading to an increase in triglycerides and cholesterol during pregnancy are explained. [Transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells from umbilical cord blood].

Umbilical cord blood transplantation has many potential advantages over Bone Marrow Transplantation using other donor sources to patients in need of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. [Influence of maternal position during delivery of fetal oxygen saturation].

The aim of the study is to investigate the alterations in fetal oxygen saturation during right lateral, supine and left lateral maternal position. Thirty six women at term are included--during the first stage of normally progressing labour. Simultaneous monitoring is carried out of fetal heart rate, uterine contractions, fetal oxygen saturation and maternal arterial blood pressure for a certain period of time in different maternal positions.

This is a report on nine patients presenting different intraoperative lesions to hepatocholedochus, some of them diagnosed in the course of operation, and others- after the intervention. A variety of plastic repairs of the hepatocholedochus, including simple suture, Saple's operation or hepatodigestive anastomosis after Longmayre are performed. The probability of inflicting lesions, the underlying causes and the therapeutic approach to concrete cases are analyzed.

An early step in the process of HIV-1 entry into target cells is the activation of its envelope glycoprotein (GP120-GP41) to a fusogenic state upon binding to target cell CD4 and cognate co-receptor. Incubation of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1 Env-expressing cells with an excess of CD4 and co-recepeptor-bearing target cells resulted in an influx of an impermeant nucleic acid-staining fluorescent dye into the Env-expressing cells. The conflicting data in the literature about the influence of the voluntary abortion on the cervix uteri and its effects has lead us to the idea to examine by ultrasound the changes in the cervix uteri as a result of elective abortion. 137 healthy women at the average age of 26.7 years have been examined, out of which 31 were pregnant for the first time.
