A Case of Fibular Aplasia-Tibial Campomelia-Oligosyndactyly (FATCO) Syndrome Associated With Split Hand/Foot Syndrome With Long Bone Deficiency (SHFLD) and Review of the Literature.

Split hand/foot malformation is a heterogeneous congenital disorder mainly presented with a median cleft of hands or/and feet. It can be associated with long bone aplasia, a syndrome also known as split hand/foot syndrome with long bone deficiency (SHFLD), which is a very rare condition. We report a very rare case of a male fetus with SHFLD syndrome combined with fibular aplasia, tibial campomelia, and oligosyndactyly (FATCO) syndrome.

Cytokine Plasma Levels in Breast Cancer Patients, Before and After Surgery.

Studying the levels of cytokines in the plasma of patients could be valuable in guiding immunotherapy policies. We assessed the plasma levels of 4 major cytokines [interferon (IFN)-β, interleukin-2 (IL-2), tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β)] collected from 19 patients with ductal breast cancer (BCa), before surgery (BS) and 5 days after surgery (AS). The ratio AS/BS was also calculated and correlated with histopathological variables and tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) density.

CD30 (Ber-H2) expression by thymocytes and thymic epithelial cells during the late first and second trimester of gestation: an immunohistochemical and in situ hybridization (ISH) study.

Background: The exact biological function of CD30 in the thymus during development has been only partially elucidated, although data indicate it may be involved in negative selection. This study was prompted by the observation of a positive reaction of thymic epithelial cells (TECs), Hassall's corpuscles, and thymocytes with the monoclonal antibody CD30 during the late first and second trimester.

Material/methods: Twenty paraffin-embedded fetal thymus specimens at the late first and second trimester were investigated by conventional histology and immunohistology for CD30 expression.
