Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) avulsion fractures without any concomitant injuries are extremely rare in skeletally mature patients and sporadically reported in the literature. Such injuries are more likely to be associated with tibial plateau fractures, other knee ligament ruptures, distal femoral fractures, or knee dislocations. In this article, a case of a 55-year-old male, who suffered a combined displaced ACL-posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) avulsion fracture, without any related injuries, is reported.

Hip dislocations are traumatic injuries that commonly derive from high energy trauma such as traffic accidents or falls from great heights. In addition, these injuries present an increased incidence after partial or total hip arthroplasty in elderly patients. Associate literature dictates that in case of a native hip dislocation, early reduction is crucial for avoidance of further complications such as avascular necrosis of the femoral head and post traumatic arthritis.

Introduction Vitamin D deficiency (VDD) is considered one of the leading causes of poor bone quality. It may also be related to severe muscular weakness, especially in the elderly, which leads to frequent falls. Thus, VDD might be associated with fragility fractures of the hip, wrist, and spine in this age category.

Post-traumatic compartment syndrome in the lower extremity has been commonly associated with fractures of the tibia. Only in rare cases, this critical condition might be related to isolated fibular fractures. We present a rare case of delayed onset of acute compartment syndrome after a solitary fracture of the fibula.

Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is an infrequent, aseptic neutrophilic dermatosis that can be observed in patients with systemic diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease or rheumatic disorders. Due to its rare entity, PG often constitutes a diagnostic enigma, as it simulates other skin disorders. Typically, it is displayed as painful, ulcerative lesions localized to the lower extremities.

Carpometacarpal (CMC) dislocations without associated fractures of the adjacent bones are extremely infrequent injuries. Dorsal or volar dislocations occur after high-energy injuries and may lead to early post-traumatic arthritis and carpal instability. The purpose of this study was to present a case of dorsal dislocation of both the fourth and fifth CMC joints that were treated with closed reduction and casting.

Introduction: Intratendinous epidermal cysts are extremely rare soft-tissue lesions. Apart from traumatic occasions which are usually painful, in asymptomatic cases, they can be easily overlooked. The purpose of our study was to report the formation of an intratendinous epidermoid cyst after traumatic penetration and irritation of a wooden foreign body.

Crush injuries of the foot and ankle are uncommon and they have a poor prognosis leading to some form of disability. Degloving injuries of the heel and foot after crush injuries are rare and very challenging to manage due to the need for reconstruction of both osseous and soft tissue architecture. We present a salvage strategy for an open injury to the foot with extensive soft tissue detachment from the plantar and dorsal surface.

Introduction: Open interphalangeal (IP) dislocations are completely uncommon. Up to now, different patterns of dislocation have been described. The combination of axial loading and hyperdorsiflexion forces, leading to plantar dislocation of the distal phalanx, is a rare type of injury, which has yet not been reported.

Purpose: To investigate the clinical outcome of autologous matrix-induced chondrogenesis (AMIC) implementation for mid-sized chondral lesions of the acetabulum in young active patients, and assess their potential to resume an active lifestyle including return to recreational athletic activities.

Methods: Sixty-two patients with full-thickness mid-sized acetabular chondral lesions were studied. All patients who underwent an arthroscopic AMIC procedure for reconstruction of chondral defects were assessed pre-operatively and at least 2 years post-operatively using the Hip disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (HOOS), modified Harris Hip Score (mHHS) and Visual Analog Scale (VAS) for pain.

Intra-articular post-traumatic ankle joint mass is a rare entity that may mimic other pathologies, mainly localized form of pigmented villonodular synovitis (LPVS) regarding the clinical and imaging characteristics. We report the case of a 16-year-old female patient that presented an intra-articular ankle joint mass 8 months after an ankle joint sprain for which magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) suggested LPVS as possible diagnosis due to the presence of hemosiderin deposits. Diagnosis of a post-traumatic hematoma of her ankle joint was made via fine needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy and anterior ankle arthroscopy.

Background: The posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) index quantifies the curvature of the PCL seen on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) that is caused by a change in tibiofemoral alignment in the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)-deficient knee. It has been proposed that the PCL index may be useful in assessing the success of ACL reconstruction (ACLR). Hypothesis/

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to test if the PCL index is predictive of in vivo rotational kinematics and joint laxity measures in knees of patients after single-bundle ACLR.

Objective: To examine if bracing can restrict tibial rotation in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)-deficient patients during high loading activities.

Design: Repeated measures. Kinematic data were collected with an 8-camera Vicon system while each patient performed 2 tasks that are known to cause increased rotational and translational loads on the knee: (1) descending from a stair and subsequent pivoting, and (2) landing from a platform and subsequent pivoting.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to test whether rotational knee kinematics during dynamic pivoting activities are predictive of subjective functional outcome (IKDC, Lysholm), objective laxity scores (KT max), and activity levels (Tegner) in patients after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR).

Methods: Thirty-one patients with single-bundle ACLR were evaluated prospectively with 3D-motion analysis during (1) descending a stairway and pivoting and (2) landing from a jump and pivoting. The side-to-side difference of tibial rotation range of motion (SSDTR) between the ACLR and the contralateral intact knee was calculated for the pivoting phase of each task.
